"Come on Ben.. breathe, focus on the sound of my voice.. what's wrong with him!?"

"He's been exposed to a heavy dose of Spirit Energy. Apparently that's what the Matriarch ships run on these days.. How he managed to get so saturated with the stuff is beyond my comprehension."

"Never mind the how! We need to get that stuff out of the boy now! Hurry!"

"Ugghh.." Ben shut his eyes tightly, wanting to get all the noise and light out of his head..

Then.. everything went silent.

Ben opened his eyes

"Where.. am I..?"

Ben was a little five year old boy now, wearing a simple t-shirt and shorts, sitting in what appeared to be a strange otherworldly forest..

The forest shimmered as strange fairy-like creatures and other unusual beings moved past.

"Hmph! A human!?" grumbled a squirrel as it peeked out from behind a forked branch. "Here!? Now that's just crappy! Ugh, lets get out of here before it starts excreting something gross!"

"H-hello!?" the little Ben looked up at the squirrel, but the creature had already vanished. "Wait, don't leave!"

Ben looked around the forest, hugging his shoulders. "It's.. scary here."

Over the next few hours, Ben traversed deeper into the forest, biting his lower lip.  Things did not improve at all for the little boy as the environment and its fauna just became that much stranger.

A strange bird-like dragon soared through the sky above, a pack of monkey-like creatures with flying squirrel-like flaps and faces that looked like single eyes in the middle of their heads leaped over head.

"Wh-where is this place?" Ben sobbed. "What is this place!?"

"Ommmmmm... Oommmmmmm" A voice caught Ben's attention.

A strange ape-like being was sitting on a nearby rock. His fur was white, and he wore what appeared to be monk's beads and garb.

The monkey monk had his eyes closed and was humming as he meditated.

"Uh, excuse me?" Ben asked.

"OooommmmmmM!" the monkey began to hum louder, shutting his eyes so hard it was almost a squint.

"EXCUSE ME!" Ben exclaimed louder.

The monkey opened one eye before grimacing and closing it. "GO.. away!"

"But-."

"OOOOOMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!" The monkey hummed at the top of his lungs. "OOOOOMMMMMMM OOMMMMMMMMMMM!"

"Oh.. he won't listen to you.. nobody really  feels an affinity towards humans nowadays in the Spirit World.."

Another voice spoke, as an ominous scuttling sound could be heard slithering through the forest.. as if a giant serpentine insect were making its way through the leaves.

"K-Koh!" squealed the monkey. "I-I'M OUT OF HERE!"

"Who!?" Ben exclaimed.

The monkey was already gone.. the scuttling was growing louder.

Ben stepped forward. He heard another  scuttling noise near his left and turned quickly.

He caught just a flitting glimpse of a massive centipede like body slithering up into the trees.
