Many years ago in Tasmania, Australia, there was a rumored curse that the great gods placed amongst the people who dared to eat the sacred fish; since the rumor, everyone became a vegetarian. A poor, native girl who lived there named Poppy stayed in her small home near the ocean. Even though she had an insufficient amount of money, she and her late husband wanted to bear a child. Sadly, she had a miscarriage due to stress after her husband went missing on a sailing trip. Everyday she walks along the beach in the area he was last seen. She would pray to the sacred fish for her husband's safe return.
One late evening, Poppy was walking along the beach while the sun set in the horizon. As she was watching the waves crash at her feet, she heard a cry in the distance. She quickly headed over to investigate. She brushed over some shrubs and saw a little baby boy. She took the infant and went home. She cleaned him up and took him in as her own. She saw this as an opportunity to finally be the mother that she always wanted to be.
Over the years, the boy grew big and strong. He was admired by everyone in town. His name was Bobby Piscine Sculpin. He was the most handsome boy anyone could have imagined. He looked as if he had been sculpted by God himself. Bobby was 6'1'' with long dark brown hair, silver blue eyes that looked so sharp they could almost cut you with one glance, and muscular with broad, comforting shoulders.
He was respectful with a bubbly personality. Often he spent his evenings walking with Poppy along the beach and praying to the sacred fish. Bobby always enjoyed helping Poppy around the house and doing yard work for people in town. Like most townspeople, he was also a vegetarian. Although, at times he was quite stubborn with a high ego and liked to push limits, he was still a high spirited individual.
Bobby had the day off and decided to go relax at the beach before helping Poppy with dinner. He rushed out the door and headed for the beach. As he was standing in the ocean, he began to notice the sacred fish swimming around his feet. He started questioning what the fish would taste like and if the curse was actually true. Therefore, he grabbed a sacred fish out of the water and ran back home to cook it and test the curse. As he ate the delicious fish, the wind picked up tremendously and great chaos rumbled outside shaking the entire house and he passed out.
Hours later, Bobby awoke from his slumber, but he felt different. He couldn't feel his arms and legs, so he wiggled his way to the bedroom where there was a full body mirror. He struggled, but eventually made it, so he took one glance and cried in terror. He was a sack of gooey saggy skin and a large nose. His dimmed eyes were darker than the grave sin he committed.
He was no longer the most beautiful man to exist; he was the first ever blobfish. In such despair of his appearance Bobby withered his way 4,000 feet into the ocean. He was scared of how people might perceive him. He didn't want to be seen by mankind. The curse remains true to this day; those who eat the sacred fish will suffer the same punishment and lurk the oceans like Bobby
