Behind The Mischief

chapter 6

it's currently 11:00 a.m and surprisingly tony is still asleep along with Loki. The team thought of waiting for the genius to come down to the living area but with still no sign of him they decided to go up and check on him themselves "I wouldn't be surprised if he was doing work in there" the archer said when everyone was in the elevator receiving a nudge from the other assassin "OW!"

"well that might be what he's doing, it's tony we're talking about" Sam said from the corner as they were exiting the lift and walking towards the infirmary "I feel like we're gonna be in for a surprise" Bruce said as he walked along the hallway, meanwhile rhodey just silently followed with an amused smile

when they got there they were not expecting to see an adorable sleeping tony and an awake Loki reading a book "..guess you were right bruce.." bucky muttered but everyone heard, rhodeyh just snickered at them and walked in earning Loki's attention. there was still fear in his eyes but he was much calmer than yesterday "hey Loki..like the story?" he asked quietly as to not wake tony up, he also noticed that their hands were still connected  "o-oh uhm..found this beside me on the table so I thought I'd read it. Is this yours? if it is I'm so--" rhodey noticed his sudden panic so he gently cut him off "its alright Loki..you can read it, I actually left it there in case you woke up" he looked flustered at that and rhodey smiled "a-ah I see, well thank you" rhodey noticed that this is the first time since he woke up that he's spoken much more but didn't say anything

A while later the rest of the team entered after their little shock moment, and sat down at certain places noticing the billionaire still asleep and linked hand but didn't comment on it. they saw how Loki was starting to get uneasy with the number of people in the room and just then tony woke up

Tony felt like he was gonna be blinded by the amount of brightness in the room. for a moment he looked confused as to where he is but then noticed Loki staring at him, he looked down and noticed how he was holding his hand and slowly let go to stretch his sore muscles from sleeping in that position.

he gave Loki a small smile "whatcha reading there?" he asked as he rested his head back into his hands, staring at Loki's face amused "don't really know, but it is quite interesting" tony smiled at that, noticing how his old self was showing a little "hey J? what time is it?" 

"it is currently 11:30 sir"

"huh, guess I slept longer than I thought, is peter awake yet?"  "yes sir, he left to school at 7:45 being late again" tony laughed loudly at that "god that kid is gonna give me grey hairs" 

Peter was staying for at least a month due to may going to Canada for work

"and also sir?" 

"yes J?" 

"might I advise you to turn around" the AI said amused by the situation

"wha-- turn ar--" tony halted mid-sentence when he saw his teammates sitting there staring at him while his best friend was trying not to laugh his ass off. tony on the other than was still trying to process what he's looking at

he turned back around to see Loki trying not to smile at his luck and for once, Tony thought he'd let it go and feel relieved by the fact that Loki was healing, even if the process was slow

"what are you guys doing here?" he asked as he got up to get some coffee "well we thought about checking on you but turns out you were having a rather lovely beauty sleep" clint snickered while tony just huffed and grumble "shut it bird brain" 

rhodey, sam, and, clint bursted out laughing while nat, steve, bruce, and, bucky just chuckled

"I hate you guys" tony pouted "oh come one stark, you know you love us" sam dragged out but he continued to sulk, everyone just smiled or chuckled at the engineer's childishness

thor turned to see his brother smiling slightly at the interaction and decided to sit next to him, Loki still hadn't noticed "hello brother" and that made him jump "didn't mean to scare you" he chuckled, Loki just nodded his head and looked down, his relaxed eyes replaced with fear and tony noticed but decided to see what's going to happen, joining in on a conversation with nat steve and bruce while the 3 idiots did whatever it is that their doing. 

Loki will have to face his brother sooner or later, so why not now?

"Loki what's wrong, you know you can tell me anything..." thor tried to tell him gently. when he got no answer he tried again "I'm not ever gonna hurt you brother if that's what you're thinking"

Loki looked up at that, which perked tony's interest, he slowly turned to look at his brother. fiddling with his fingers, sticking his tongue out to moisten his lips. thor took it upon himself and took his brother hands in his, holding it tight, only showing comfort

Loki paused a minute like he's waiting for something, shoulders tense, eyes blown wide. tony thought of stepping in at that but stopped when he saw tears in his eyes "Loki..." thor called out gently, but Loki just closed his eyes, letting his tears fall "oh brother.." thor gently pulled him into a soft embrace, holding him tight. lending his brother a shoulder to cry on when needed

he wasn't there for his brother when he needed him, but he will now. forever and always.

soft sniffles turned into heartbreaking sobs as Loki finally let his pain out to his brother "i-i thought--" Loki got cut off by choking on his own sobs "it's alright brother, I'm here, 'll always be. I'm so sorry Loki I should've searched harder, but you're not alone. not anymore. ill forever be by your side brother" Loki sobbed harder at that and clutched onto thor like a lifeline "I'm sorry!" he managed to choke out 

"what are you sorry for?" thor asked gently as he rubbed circles on his back, lending any sort of comfort he can, everyone watched the interaction with soft smiles, tony's though, was the softest, and that didn't go unnoticed by the assassins in the room

"I was weak..I should've fought harder or this wouldn't have happened--" voice just above a whisper he was gently cut off by thor

"it's alright brother, it wasn't your fault. your strong Loki" Loki pulled back to look at his adop-- no, his brother, he smiled sadly "not anymore.." 

"We can change that...with time, you'll get stronger" Loki just hummed and let his head fall back into the crook of thors neck, letting him stroke his hair and back with tiny circles

he wouldn't admit it but he was relieved, never truly excepting anyone's care or love was hard, refusing to believe anything and never trusting anyone except his mother was even worse. this was a very big step for him and thor was just as ecstatic at finally getting to hold his little brother

the team soon got up slowly and left to give the brothers some privacy, heartwarming at the sight, along with tony. when Loki realized tony was leaving he looked up at him, only to find those brown orbs looking at him with a small smile and he returned it with a sincere one

tony walked out, joining the rest in the common room feeling weirdly content with what just happened, the smile still lingering on his lips and no one needed to question why
