"Linda!!!"

I heard my father scream loudly, unable to handle the sight going on in front of his eyes.

"Dad, please calm down, let me call the ambulance," I said in a not very calm tone myself. After all, my mother was dying before me. I was a teenager, I really needed her in my life.

"It's no use, honey. I can't hear her heartbeat nor can feel her breath. God has taken her for some well deserved rest."

Just as I was about to call the ambulance I heard a sound. A sound of knife stabbing followed by my gasp.

"Dad!"

I dropped the phone and came running to my father who had stabbed himself. He was bleeding all over the floor, just like mother.

My eyes widened and quick gasps constantly escaped from my mouth. I saw both of my parents dying just before my eyes. I quickly noticed on the side that I had already dialled the emergency number. I quickly catched the hold of it.

I exclaimed with thumps and stutters, "My parents are very injured. Please hurry!"

_________

"Sorry, but we couldn't save any of them. It was too late."

More tears fell down from my eyes. But I was more confused than sad. She just didn't really seem dead.

"How did my mother die? I just saw her collapse into the floor and pass away like that. Her face was expressions as usual, she didn't scream or anything."

"We are trying hard to answer this same question with the rest of the team. But there's not evidence of murder, and she doesn't show signs of any health fatality," told Simon, one of the member of the team.

"Okay.."

_________

"You all know why I called you, right?"

All the young adults nodded in agreement.

"Alright," I said.

Our friends group is unique. It has been two years since my family died and 3 years since my sister. But the way my mom and my sister died was similar. Those kind of deaths where the people don't even die. All of a sudden, they just stop breathing. The dead people even keep standing just like normal people, sometimes they die while talking and the other person cannot even identify that the other person is dead, they'll just think that the dead person had stopped talking. After some time they stop breathing, their surroundings become covered with their flowing blood. These deaths are happening again and again these years, with my sister being the first case. Too many of these has been happening for people to still believe that these deaths are normal. Most of our families died this way.

The unaffected friends never talk to us now, they fear of being the next victim if they do so. So I came together with these friends, who are willing to help. We all had suffered different hardships and different amounts of sorrow; but those are the exact things which unite us.

"We are going to find the cause of the deaths, or more like murders, by any means. It is already proven that it's not a disease, so I'm sure you all think what I do. There's a killer lurking in the city."

"I can never forget what they did to my only family, my best friend," said Ray in an sad yet angry tone.

"It's okay, we're there for you," told Jane, to which Ray responded with a smile.

"Therefore, we promise to ourselves that we'll find what the the police couldn't for years. We'll go through any hardships, but we'll never be giving up without making sure that our remaining families are safe and the victims are avenged. We'll send the killer to justice," I announced to all of them. They all smiled. I could not help but smile myself. These smiles are what makes us strong.

"Let's go, find the Mind Killer."
