This is not okay. I mean really, who thought this game was a good idea? It was a terrible idea. I hate the person that decided to suggest it.
I leaned in, cutting off whatever she was saying with a small kiss, not even long enough for her to respond. I just needed to get it out of my system, so that I could actually listen to what she was saying and not just pretend to listen while thinking about a lot of things I really shouldn't be thinking about.
Her face was scarlet in a matter of seconds, and I mean her entire face, not just her cheeks, her entire face. She didn't say a word, staring with wide eyes at the back wall.
"You were saying something about a deal?" I tried to get her to continue telling me about her book, now that my focus had returned.
She took a few seconds before responding, taking several long blinks, drawing her gaze towards me. "What?"
"I wanna hear the rest of your book."
"I'm sorry," she drew out, "how am I supposed to continue after that?"
Well it was nice to know I wasn't the only one affected. Although I couldn't tell if she was flustered or angry right now, because it definitely could be either. "Just finish the story."
She mocked me in a high pitched voice, "'Just finish the story'" and then she was yelling, but laughing at the same time. Slightly terrifying. I can't tell if she wants to strangle me, or hide between the pages of her book. "How am I supposed to finish the story when you do stuff like that? Now that's all I'm going to think about."
"Will you just finish the story?" I teased. I did want to hear the rest of it, granted there were other things I'd rather do with her, but I did want to listen to her. The book seemed pretty interesting, sorta. I'd probably never read it myself—I'd probably never read anything myself—but the way she explained it almost made it sound interesting, if it were a movie.
"No because now I can't focus on what I was saying."
"Gorgeous!" I whined like a child, an unwanted, undesired, smile spread across my face. It was disgusting, the smile that is; the smile, the warm feeling in my entire body, the erratic beat of my heart, my sweaty palms: absolutely disgusting.
"Finnick!" She teased right back.
I blame Alexia. I scrunched my nose, almost calling her Richard but deciding the thought of kissing someone named Richard was a slight turn off, and Violet was too pretty of a middle name to mock.
"Aw, is Finnick upset?" She poked my cheek. "It's okay Finnick."
She continued to repeat my name until I finally got her shut up, pressing my lips to hers, half because I wanted her to stop calling me Finnick and half because I just wanted to.
She giggled, her lips still next to mine. "Is that your way of telling me to shut up?" She whispered, our faces so close to each other that there was no need to speak any louder.
I didn't bother opening my eyes, relaxing against her. "Did it work?"
"Hmm, not sure. I think you'll have try again."
How can you say no to that? "As you wish." I quoted a book she'd been obsessing over last week.
She wrapped her arms around my neck, in no rush at all, taking her time as she explored my mouth.
I lied, I definitely don't want her to finish the story anymore.
I didn't try to push my luck, keeping my hands where they'd been the whole time: resting on her waist, above her shirt. But the temptation was agonizing, because I definitely wanted more, a lot more. But I'd take what she would give me.
