"We run?" Cassie looked up at him confused,
"Yeah. But we won't have any food or money. I know you can just conjure our clothes." Bucky started "But what about these?" He held up one of his journals,
"What about it?" Cassie looked at the journal confused.
"I know you store your journals in 'your heart.' But what about me? I can't store mine in my heart." Bucky explained,
"I can't tell if you're asking me to mind your journals for you," Cassie muttered, but loud enough for the brunette to hear.
"I'm talking about a safety bag." Bucky clarified, with a shrug.
"I beg your pardon?" Cassie slightly raised her brow.
"A safety bag. We need to run, we just grab it and go." Bucky answered.
"You know what else we need to do?" Cassie leaned back in her chair, folding her arms over her chest.
"And what's that?" Bucky slightly tilted his head to the side,
"You need a haircut."
*****
"I really don't know about this," Bucky muttered under his breath.
"I heard that. And don't worry, I'm not going to make you look that bad. You just need to cut your hair so they won't find you as easy." Cassie stood behind Bucky, who was sat on one of the kitchen chairs.
"Have you ever done this before?" Bucky hesitantly spoke,
"Uhm... If I have? I don't remember." Cassie looked down at the scissors that were in her hand. Bucky slightly stiffened after she spoke, which didn't go unnoticed.
"Don't worry. I won't make you look horrible. I'll only cut it a tiny bit." The redhead assured. Bucky sighed shaking his head.
"You're going to do it whether I like it or not. Aren't you?" Bucky sighed. Cassie creased her eyebrow together,
"You have a choice." Cassie replied, "I can just leave it if you want. I just think that you'd find it better to had shorter hair-" She tried to explain.
Bucky froze when Cassie replied. Her sentence repeated over and over in his head 'You have a choice.' At that moment, he realised that Cassie actually cared for him and was nothing like Hydra. Hydra never gave him a choice. But the redhead that stood behind him? She cared about him, she gave him a choice if he wanted to do something as simple as cutting his own hair.
"You can cut it." He cut her off mid-sentence, "It's fine I trust you with it." He hesitantly added,
A small smile appeared on Cassie's face when he did so. She of all people knew how hard it was for the two of them to trust people after the decades of being in Hydra's hands. "The first thing we need to do is cut this ponytail off," Cassie muttered under her breath.
She gently cut the ponytail off and threw it in the bin, before sliding the bobbin around her right wrist. The sound of the scissors slicing through his hair and the sound of her humming was all the noise coming from the apartment.
Gently she brushed her hand through his hair to get the small bit of hair out. "What song are you humming?" Bucky broke the silence,
"I don't know. It was in a dream I had this morning." She continued to brush the stray hairs off his shoulders. She tried not to look at his left shoulder where his metal arm met his shoulder. But the scar was quite hard to not see. This was the first time she had seen how his arm was connected.
Fuck, this was the first time she saw him shirtless. Well after she lost her memories. "You got another memory?" Bucky questioned,
"I did, yes. I was in Brooklyn watching the sunset..." She trailed off, debating whether or not to tell him she was with him.
"Who was humming the song?" Bucky slightly looked over his shoulder,
"You were. You have a good voice, did you know that?" Cassie slightly smiled at him,
"I do?" Bucky was shocked to hear that he had a good voice.
"Well, your humming voice was good." The redhead answered,
"You said you were watching the sunset?" Bucky questioned, and Cassie hummed in response "Did you mean we were?" Bucky curiously added.
"Yeah, we were watching it together in Brooklyn park. Maybe it was a date, I have no idea." Cassie's lips pursed trying to change the subject "So what do you think?" She held a small black hand mirror in front of him.
Bucky slowly took the mirror and moved his head to look at his new hair. It was like when he was back in the war but not as short. It was a short messy haircut, but it was perfect for Bucky. He hated when his hair fell into his face and had to get one of Cassie's bobbins to tie back his hair. He never knew how she could go all the time with her hair down and in her face.
"It's perfect, thank you. Cassie." Bucky stood up and smiled softly down at the redhead.
"It was trouble, it suits you." She returned the smile, "But you, uhm. You have hair all over your chest." She slightly chuckled pointing to his bare chest that had hair shaving over it.
"Oh, thank you." He smirked brushing the hair off his chest and onto the floor.
"You're lucky that I don't have to physically sweep the floor." Cassie playfully glared up at the man before she an old sweeping brush casually started to sweep the dark hair into the plastic dustpan before it was tipped into the bin.
"I don't know if I'll ever get used to that." Bucky slightly laughed, slipped the red long-sleeved cotton shirt.
"I got used to the peculiar things I can do." Cassie laughed, "You will. Don't worry." She smiled up at him,
