I was only replied with a shove back to the ground. I fall backwards, feeling shock of what Yui had just done.
Yui looked at me with with a glint of fear and confusion in her eyes.
She had pushed me away.
"I'm sorry but... that was really sudden. Do I know you?"
I felt apalled. Yui did not remember me.
Yui stands up, brushing off dirt from her shorts.
"I'm going now. Do take care of yourself", she says, glancing at me for a second, the grip on her bible tightening, and walking into church.
I sit there, stunned about what had just happened.
I knew that this was not a dream. Yui is alive. But how?
Nothing is making sense.
I stand up and brush the dirt off my clothes.
I pull out my phone, pressing the home button.
14:00 flashed across the screen, and also something strange.
The date was set on the first of August, just a month before Yui's death.
That can't be right. It was supposed to be the third of September.
Did I jump back in time?
This is confusing me.
But Yui is alive. I felt her touch, I felt her hair, I felt her body warmth.
She was breathing right in front of my eyes.
But she did not remember me.
This my chance, to prevent Yui's death.

I did not want to rush things for Yui's memories of me were totally erased. Depressing. But how I had the motivation and paitence to slowly get Yui to know me once more, I don't know.
I would do anything to keep her alive.

I wait outside the church for Yui, trying to think of words to say she comes out.
Somehow I feel nervous, my hands interwined with each other, fidgeting around. Soon enough, Yui was on her way out, her gaze lost in her surroundings, as if floating away into her own world.
"Hey", I greet.
She snaps back, attention and her frost green eyes diverting into mine.
It feels like she was about to say something, but she had her lips clam up, and seems to be waiting for me to say something.
But she manages a "Hello" in reply. Being the polite Yui I know, she tries not to look awkward for what had happened eariler.
"Um.. I'm sorry about what I did earlier. You just looked like someone I... used to know", I say, forcing out the words.
A bright smile replaces her nervouse expression.
"That's okay."
Then, an awkward slience follows.
"Um... want to get some crêpe? It's my treat for humilating you just now."
I want to immediately take back my words. No way would anyone accept a stranger's offer. But I just feel that I just had to ask her that.
She seems hesitant for a moment.
I gulp. I could not help but cross my fingers, in hopes that she would say yes.
"Alright", she replies, with a genuine smile.
A huge smile was automatically smacked across my face, happy of the reply.
"Okay! Follow me! I know a stall which sells the best crêpes!"
                            ☆*・゜゚・* ☆
I do not bother asking for her favorite flavoured crêpe. In fact, I automatically order her favorite crêpe.
It was then I had realised what I had done when Yui's face had brighten up as I pass her her dessert. With her cheerful but curious gaze, she asks, "blueberry chocolate! How did you know that this is my favorite?"
"Wild guess", I lie, covering it up with a smirk.
She giggles, then taking a bite off the crêpe, with delight and enjoyment showing through her face.
Such a precious girl.
Both of us walk along the noisy streets, in silence after we are done with the dessert.
"Are you going home soon?" I ask, glancing at her just a little, too shy to turn my head to properly face her.
"Yes", she replied, turning her head to face me. I pluck up my courage, and ask her then, "do you want me to escort you back?"
Yui seems quite shock at the offer, I am too. A normal girl would freak out, either because I am a stranger or a model who offered to escort her home.
But like the polite Yui she is, she nicely declines, which is understandable. She then states that she is fine to go home by herself, and that there is a bus stop just up ahead. I had already known the answer, but I still want to connect with her, just a little more.
I handle the rejection well, and return it with a smile.
"Well then, may I at least walk you to the bus stop?" I boldly offer, crossing my fingers at the same time.
Yui takes about five seconds to consider the offer and accepts it with a smile.
The walk to the bus stop was as awkward as I thought it would be. I rack my brain for something to chat about.
But my trail of thoughts shatters, upon hearing Yui's voice.
"Just now, when you hugged me on impluse, you called out a name."
"Yui?" I lie nervously, anxious at what she is trying to get at. I had totally forgotten about that.
"Yes. That's my name. How did you know that?"
"Like I mentioned earlier, the person who I used to know... That person is also named Yui", I lie again.
"That's really coincidental", she replies, suddenly in deep thought about it.
I nod.

"She really must mean a lot to you, huh?"

I got caught off-guard by that.
My heart is wavering, along with a sudden flashback of the intoxicating memories I had with Yui, all before this happened.
My stomach churns, but I manage to mutter out a yes.
"That's nice. She must be a really pleasant girl too.... considering how polite and.. good looking you are", she mentions, stuttering a little, tilting her head down.
I could swear that I saw her flush a little for a moment.
The churning in my stomach soon gets replaced by butterflies in my stomach.
I gaze at her affectionately, unable to contain my overflowing feelings for her.
I love you, Yui. I wish you'd remember me.
"She is", I answer, smiling to myself.

We reach to the bus stop. I bid goodbye to Yui. She returns the goodbye too. But as I turn away, she grabs my arm, with her danity and fair hands, catching me by surprise.
I glance at the physical interaction for that split second, then into the frost green orbs of hers.

"May I know you name?"

"Tohma. Aikara Tohma."
She smiles brightly. I'm Mikasa Yui. It's a pleasure to meet you, Aikira-kun."
That kind of stung me. Such a formal way of calling me, like an aquaintance. But I could not complain.
I force a smile.
"Nice to meet you too, Yui-san."
