The song is finished, and it will be another one. I can dance with my husband the whole night.

"May I dance with the bride?" Al asked. Is that an indirect question for me?

Only if my husband allows.

"Sure, best man." He just gave his permission.

Al took my hand slowly. Polite as he is, but with respect to his best friend, obviously.

This will be the last time that we'll be this close. I don't want to remember that rain incident anymore. But anyway, I still have to compliment him.

"Al, that is such a wonderful performance." Indeed, it was spectacular.

"My pleasure." And there goes his shy smile again.

As we are dancing, I was thinking that I could still love him - not as a lover, but as a friend. I think it's better that way, to have him as a friend. In that case, there'll be no bitterness in us. Yes, that way, I could still have him.

"You're such a beauty." He said out of the blue.

"Oh Al, you're sweet as ever."

He had his shy smile again.

Al, I used to love you. And it's a good thing that you never knew.
