Now that you thought about it, it was a wonder he still had that old thing. It was worth nothing now, but it had sentimental value.
He climbed up the roof and reached out a hand to lift you up as well.
Up the roof you gasped at the sight, you were familiar with most of it. Though you had to admit a lot of things has changed looking from here. This was a place you often visited afterschool when everything was simpler, and you actually had time to do so.
Up the roof wick sat with a rose in his mouth, beside a small music player that you remembered as well.
"you finally got batteries for it?" you laughed.
"yeah I guess..." he said.
"Its nice up here" you said, you took in the nice breeze that played with your hair. The scent of wood and wind slightly tickling your nose as you looked down at the small town.
You glanced at Victor, hazel eyes staring back as his blonde hair weaved through the air. His lips curved into a polite smile, which in turn made yours gently curve as well.
You sat down with him and looked back at Wick. The dog made its way to the both of you, jumping with the rose in its mouth. Wick sat in front of you, giving you the rose.
You petted its head and muttered a 'thankyou'.
You shifted your gaze at Victor, who was looking at Wick. "How'd you even get him here?" you asked.
"I asked someone" he said.
"Hmm" you hummed. "Must've taken a lot of courage" you said.
He was petting Wick, not completely focused. "well yeah..."
"I wanted it to be perfect" he said.
He stopped and turned his gaze at you. "Listen, I don't think I'll get to go to the dance"
"oh" you muttered, slightly disappointed.
He looked out into the distance, "I think my parents are taking me back home. that means I wont have to deliver letters anymore, since I'll live with them and they don't have to pay here"
"home?" you questioned. "your home is very far..."
"Will you miss delivering letters? I know you liked spending your time that way" you said.
"No Y/N... I'll miss you" he said, looking up with a weak smile.
"So I thought... maybe you could dance with me here" he said. "I'd really like a proper send off" He stood up and he reached out a hand.
You got up as well, and Victor took the music player. You cheekily smiled after seeing him take it to play some music. "I thought you'd never ask" you joked. "you always seem silent and dense".
He shook his head, "not dense... Just silent".
The music started playing, it was music that would come out from a Ghibli film. A little melancholic, nostalgic and heart wrecking.
You never thought about Victor going back home, sure it was likely you weren't going to the same schools after high school but you always thought you'll be in the same little town forever.
He gently placed his hands on your waist and you rested yours on his shoulders. Your hands intertwined on one side, feet going forward and back. The music played, and you swayed back and forth.
"we'll still be friends" You said. "I could always call" you said.
"I'll send letters" he said.
You know that some how it wouldn't be the same. And both of you will get your own lives, and new friends eventually. It was an inevitable end of an era.
Was there anything you would regret after time goes by? It didn't seem like there was much to do.
"You're going away today?" you asked.
"Yeah" he said.
You leaned in resting your head onto his chest, "I'll miss you too" you mumbled. The music only made you sadder, your steps slowed and you took in Victor's scent. Something you wouldn't be able to do for a while.
It was all strangely melancholic, how does someone who's been there for so long suddenly just not be?
Everything was going to be new and exciting, sometimes a pain but exhilarating. But with all the new things you knew one of the things you would miss was this.
Victor was silent, he was probably thinking a lot too.
You reminisced all the times you had to stay up late together to finish projects. Or studying together and all the little arrangements you made for note taking. The times you would eat street food after class. Or the time you watched stars together, with a couple other people who slowly drifted away long before.
Would he drift away too?
You looked up at him, he's changed a lot since you first met him.
You didn't want to get to emotional, it would be just nice to take in the scene right now.
"You wont drift away right?" you asked.
"Never" he said. He spun you around as you danced. You forgot you were even dancing, after being in the same motion for awhile.
You smiled at his answer, even if it may not be true you were happy he at least felt that way now.
A/N: sorry this is a bit late, My phone recently died lmao. I only recently got the idea of writing using the laptop. Sorry this is very sadddddd.
