Until Sunghoon felt himself step onto his shoelace, stumbling forward through the air. Luckily he managed to catch himself before he bumped right into Jake's back. He slapped a hand to his mouth, stopping a string of curse words spiralling out. With a grumpy look on his face, he bent down to tie his shoelaces up, seeing both of them undone.

He began to tie them together, gripping the laces with the tips of his fingers. He glanced up to see the group of his friends, laughing and talking together. He spotted Jungwon with an arm around Jake as Jay started playfully hitting Jake in the arm. And Jake was right in the middle of them, going along with whatever they were saying. The trio was completely immersed in their conversation, joyous laughs singing out into the atmosphere. Although, Sunghoon watched as their figures got further and further away, not even noticing they left him behind.

"Guys!" he called out to them, a desperate twinge to his voice. He felt his throat go hoarse, and he tightly swallowed, feeling a pang filled with sorrow hit his heart as he watched them disappear around the corner. His grip around his perfect, white shoelaces tightened, having the spontaneous thought of how easy they would be to squish if they were skinny, ramen noodles.

Sunghoon let out an irritated scoff, angrily tightening his shoelaces. A dark look cast over his features as he stared at the grey, bleak concrete pavement in front of him. He bit down on his tongue to stop himself from screaming, squeezing his eyes shut as he muttered indignantly to himself.

"First, you steal my crush, and now you steal my friends? Fuck you, Jake Sim."

At that moment, Sunghoon knew that the universe was doing everything against his favour when he felt a wet and chilly drop of water rain down from the sky, followed by dozens of other raindrops. The tempestuous downpour seemed to slap Sunghoon on the back as he stood up, hitting his head on a black umbrella that was being held over him.

"What the fuck―" Sunghoon glared up at the umbrella as he rubbed the back of his head, a nasty scowl on his face.

"Seriously, Sunghoon, what's gotten into you?" a soft voice from behind him whispered behind him. Sunghoon recognised that voice from a mile away and only stared at the person behind him with an emotionless expression. Sunoo clicked his tongue indignantly as he walked off from Sunghoon, leaving a puzzled Sunghoon behind.

"What are you waiting for? Come on now; we don't have all afternoon." Sunoo ordered, shooting a sharp glance towards Sunghoon. The latter decided to comply even in his dreadful state, grumpily sulking behind Sunoo with a noticeable slouched posture. Sunoo abruptly snatched one of Sunghoon's hands and shoved it into his jacket pocket.

"Where are we going?" Sunghoon asked the boy with a small frown on his face, albeit grateful for Sunoo's pocket. His hand was beginning to feel warmer tucked away in the padded jacket's pocket; it felt like a ball of warmth encased his own hand. He was grateful, to say the least, not that he would admit it anyway.

"Home. Where else would we be going?" Sunoo replied, making Sunghoon shut his mouth as the two walked along the pavement. However, Sunghoon could not contain his bubbling anger as he stared down hard at the sidewalk, his eyes starting to sting. Sunoo rolled his eyes as he let out a quiet groan, nudging Sunghoon in the arm.

"Let me guess. Jake?" Sunoo asked Sunghoon, who dumbly nodded in response, a light chuckle escaping from Sunoo's lips.

"I can't stand him, and I've only known him for one day," Sunghoon breathed out, squishing his face in the palm of his hands. Sunoo gave him a pat on the back, trying to comfort the boy. The rain pattered down onto the pavement they walked on, the once clear skies now covered by the grey, stormy clouds.

Sunghoon wasn't going to lie; Jake seemed really genuine and sweet, but Sunghoon couldn't help but feel so ticked off just by a single thought of him. His emotions got the best of him, and he couldn't help but hate the boy. All because the girl he liked was all over the boy. He didn't like himself for feeling this way, and it didn't help with the fact that he was seated right next to him, in the eye of the storm.

"I seriously hate him." Sunghoon looked up from his hands, his eyelids hanging low, a glowering look fixed on his face. Sunghoon glanced to the side of him, walking by a small house crammed in between two tall apartment buildings. It was a cute cottage with flower pots, all aligned outside the house on their porch. A small brick wall outlined the front of the house, with light purple lilacs planted out the front, sitting so peacefully in a row. The flowers seemed to wave at Sunghoon as he walked past, swaying with the present soft breeze.

Sunghoon could feel a few raindrops hit his cheeks, Sunoo losing grip on the umbrella as he lost balance for a second. However, Sunghoon barely noticed as he kept his gaze fixated on the dainty lilac flowers, noticing Sunoo after a loud shout snapped him out of his daze.

Sunghoon grabbed the umbrella from Sunoo's hand and held onto it as tight as he could, managing to keep it upright against the hollering wind. Sunoo merely had a pink blush written all over his cheeks as he doubled over, giggling like he was mad. This caused Sunghoon to break out into laughter as well, as the two walked through the rain, the murky clouds overhead gradually parting.
