I didn't know what to say and just stared at him blankly. My mom was the one to speak.

"Thank you, Lord," she said. "You're such a great help to our family."

"I owed a lot to my Prince," he said, "It's the least I can do."

Later, we found ourselves sitting in the limo back to the Ultara Academy. After a tearful reunion with my mom, everything was back in place. Mom examined everyone for injuries, but she found no scratch on me nor on Jisoo and Jennie, except Joy. Her hands got bruised. Joy blamed herself for being too soft, and this was said from a girl who had crushed every single undead she'd encountered.

Jennie said she needed some rest, so Jisoo let her sleep on her lap. I was less worried now. And Dimitri seemed like a nice guy, especially after I discovered that he was also a vegetarian like me (well...a different kind of vegetarian, because he drinks animal blood, though, not like me).

We didn't talk about what had happened in my house, I didn't want to traumatize my mom even more. Then we dropped her at the hospital. She insisted that one of her patients needed surgery tomorrow. I almost wished I needed a surgery too so that I could be with her for a long while, but Dimitri said I was so wanted by the vampires, both living and dead, which meant my presence around Mom might also add her to the danger list.

While we were on our way back to the Ultara Academy, Jisoo started her usual questioning with the vampire lord.

"How did you meet Chaeng's father?" She asked.

"We were best friends since we were kids," he said, "We both were born and raised in Leningrad together."

"Where?"

"Present day St. Peterburg," Joy told her.

"And are you really four hundred years old?" She asked.

"Yes, dear," Dimitri said. "But in vampire year, I'm still quite young and handsome."

I tried not to gag at that, but Jisoo just went on.

"So are you married? Do you have any kids?"

"No and no," Dimitri said.

"Why not?" Jisoo asked. "I thought living vampires could procreate."

"Well, if my partners were like seahorses, they would get pregnant a lot," he said with a laugh.

And as much as I tried not to like this man, I had to burst out laughing. I just couldn't help it. Joy and Jisoo looked at me. And later Joy was next to explode into laughter. Jisoo just sat, staring blankly at us.

"I don't get it," she said.

"In biology, male seahorses carry and give birth to the babies," I told her.

"Which means he's playing for the other team," Joy added with a giggle. Jisoo's eyes grew large as she looked at us and then back to Lord Dimitri, who was smiling like a shy schoolboy.

"I still don't get it," Jisoo finally said. And Joy and I gave a loud disappointed groan.

Finally, we were back to the mansion. I had to thank Dimitri for stepping in to protect mom and all. Maybe I shouldn't have been so judgmental about him. At least now, I realized there were good vampires out there, too. Like my dad.

The four of us walked back to the suite without any problems. As we moved along the hallway, Jennie suddenly swayed to the side. She put her hand on the wall for support.

"Jennie, are you okay?" Jisoo came to hold her.

"Yeah, I'm fine."

"I saw this coming," Joy whispered.
