Chapter 6- Progress

Start from the beginning

Thinking back through all the memories, everything clicked for him, he had scared her that night. That night he had pulled a memory that was buried deep within her, it was the first time she had been raped. When he had seen that memory, he had gotten so furious that he smashed the lamp that sat next to his bed. He heard her wake up crying and leave her room.

So, when he had sat down next to her and then spoke, she had been scared out of her mind. She had just been forced to remember something she did not want to. She had tried to get away from where he was but ended up in the same room as him, not knowing. She had felt safe and was in a space in her mind where she was almost happy, and then he came and ruined it. Now he felt guilty, he knows what a hard life can do to someone. She seemed to turn out fine, not completely broken unlike him.

Once he had finished sorting through his thoughts, his tea, his snack and had put all the dishes in the dish washer, he headed back to his room quietly. He walked up to his door, and looked back, her door was open, and she was asleep peacefully. He walked into her room and pulled the blanket out from under her and put it at the end of the bed. He then picked her up and put her straight in her bed with her head on her pillow. He pulled the blanket up over her, and whispered, "I am sorry for what has happened to you, and sorry for everything I've done," and then he left closing the door behind him.

*Back to your POV*

The next morning you woke up from a dream, wanting to go back as it slowly disintegrated from your memory, but as it did you remembered a few words, "I am sorry for what has happened to you, and sorry for everything I've done". The voice was smooth, calming, and made you want to melt, who ever said it really felt was he was saying. You had no clue what had cause this dream or where these words came from, but they gave you a feeling of safety and hope.

As you opened your eyes, adjusting to the light, you noticed that you were under your bed cover, and your head was at the top of your bed. You had fallen asleep with your head at the bottom of the bed and on top of the covers. Weird... I don't move in my sleep; I sleep like the dead. You got up and got dressed, in a pair of light blue skinny jeans and a pale purple cropped sweatshirt. Admiring your choice of outfit, you turned to walk out your door that you had thought you had left open but was closed. Again, that is weird, someone must have moved me and closed my door after I fell asleep.

You headed down to the kitchen to conjure up some breakfast, you were feeling a cinnamon roll or maybe cinnamon toast crunch, which ever you could find first. In the kitchen was everyone, except Loki, which did not surprise you.

"Uhm. Thanks for whoever tucked me in and closed my door last night" you said as you grabbed the cinnamon toast crunch off the counter. You turned to see all of them looking around, searching for who tucked you in. "None of you tucked me in last night?"

"Nope,"

"Nope sorry"

"Wasn't me"

"Oh, umm then who..." you said as you heard footsteps coming down the hall. Loki walked out of the hall and into the kitchen.

"Brother! Nice to see you it's been quite a while since you came out of that room of yours" Thor shouted. Loki didn't say anything back just nodded at Thor grabbed a bowl and came and stood by you. You realized he must want the cinnamon toast crunch you had in your hand, so you quickly poured it into your own bowl and handed it to him.

"Thanks," Loki whispered as he turned and went to sit on a couch by himself.

You watched from the bar as he ate his cereal, listening to all the conversations. You fixed on Loki, when Nat bumped your shoulder, "Hey, I asked you a question but if you want to keep staring at him then fine" Nat said on the verge of giggles.

"It is not like that, I don't think. I think he is the one who tucked me and closed the door... but that doesn't make scene because he hates everyone," you whisper.

"It makes sense, he was the only one who was not in here when you asked, and nobody in here fessed up to it..." Nat whispered. You both looked over at Loki who was looking straight back at you.

"Woah that's not freaky at all" Nat said as you turned away from him.

"Right!" you spat, "why would he be looking over here, and why would he tuck me in, everything I have ever heard of him is that he is cold and manipulating." You glanced at Loki, he turned away from looking at you almost looking hurt.

"Maybe you should just ask him" Nat said as Pepper walked up.

"Ask who what?" Pepper interjected.

"Last night y/n was tucked in, like she had fallen asleep with her head at the bottom and woke at the top, and her door was closed, and we think it was reindeer games. I think she should just ask him" Nat rambled.

"Oh, hmm I don't think you should, it might come off weird, especially if it really wasn't him" Pepper said.

"I don't know what I am going to do" you sighed. "Weird question ladies, what causes dreams?"

"I was told that when you are sleeping that if you hear something and it registers, you dream about it, or you could take it as Disney says, 'A dream is a wish your heart makes'" Pepper said.

"I was told that whatever was on your mind when you fell asleep was what you dreamed about, or it was just random. Why?" Nat said.

"Well last night I had a dream that I was enjoying, and of course I don't remember it except a few words which were 'I am sorry for what has happened to you, and sorry for everything I've done' and the voice sounded familiar but not someone I have talked to a lot" you replied.

"Hmm that weird, that you only remember that. I always remember it all or nothing" Pepper said.

"What do you think it means?" you asked.

"That someone relates and knows your past, and they are sorry that you went through it, and they have done something to wrong you, so they said sorry for that too, I mean it is pretty simple" Nat said sarcastically.

"I was thinking more on the lines of someone cares for your well-being, but all of us here do, except maybe Loki" Pepper said. All three of you glance at Loki again and find him watching you girls once again. To you he looked hurt, like a puppy, but not to the other two, he looked furious to them.

"Maybe both" you roll your eyes.

"Who knows... weird question, have you made any progress on trying to get him to teach you?" Pepper asked.

"Well, I ambushed him last night, and we "started over" ... I think that's why he is out here today, especially since before I had told him to stay away. But we just drank tea and ate a snack, we did not speak one word to each other" you replied.

"Well that it sort of progress, I mean he is out here," Nat said.

"Yeah, I guess that is true, now all I have to do is warm up to him and start a real conversation with him." you said glumly.

"Hey, you never know, it might be as simple as saying hi in the hallway or sitting next to him on the couch" Pepper positively added.

"Yeah, except he might stab me if I annoy him too much" you joke.

"Go sit next to him and say hi." Pepper pushes you towards the couch he is sitting on.

"Okay, I'll try" you walk away and sit down next to Loki, cereal in your hand.
