I pouted, unable to save my precious baby, which was still firmly in his grip. "Fine."

"So what happened?" Klaus pried.

Did I particularly want to tell my brothers the truth? No.

Did I try to lie to them instead? Yes.

Did it fail miserably and they called me out immediately? Also yes.

"So what really happened?" Sonny probed.

I grumbled. "Night terror." That was all the information they needed to hear.

The two of them nodded in response, understanding immediately, Klaus more so than Sonny. Klaus understood from first hand experience, Sonny, thankfully, could not say the same. It was the only good thing to come from Sonny being unconscious during it all. While I had to spend my nights reliving the event on repeat, Sonny could sleep blissfully.

I shook off the unwanted feeling, changing my course of direction to something else. "That's beside the point, right now I need to focus on finding a way to get him to fall in love with me."

If I can get him to fall for me then maybe Tenshi will like me. So when Klaus wants to go hangout with his friends but doesn't want to leave me to spend a Friday night alone, I can say I'm hanging out with a friend too.

"He just—" I struggled to put my thoughts into words. "He doesn't seem interested in me!"

I mean come on, I was in the same bed as him and it was like he couldn't find a way to sleep further from me. I asked him if he was feeling okay and the guy blamed it on a cold. He looked fine to me! Clearly he's just not interested in me, but I need to find a way to change that.

"What makes you say that?" Klaus, the only rational one in the family, asked before jumping to conclusions.

Sonny spoke at the same time Klaus had, "Can you blame him?"

"Normally, I'd slap you but since I'm the older one, and clearly the more mature one, I'll take the high road." I rubbed my seniority in Sonny's face. I turned to Klaus. "He just doesn't seem interested in me." I'm sure after last night's show, he probably thinks I'm a complete weirdo.

"Have you ever thought that maybe the reason he doesn't seem interested is because you're looking for your signs not his?" Klaus tried to bring reason into the conversation.

I did not want to be rational. Let me wallow. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"People show affection in different ways. Maybe he is interested in you, he just shows it differently."

"Doubtful." I asked him about the necklace and the guy practically threw me in the car so I'd leave. He clearly isn't interested.

"And what do you think of him?" Sonny questioned.

I grabbed my favorite cereal off the shelf. "What do you mean?"

"How do you feel about him?" Sonny restated his question.

I hadn't stopped to think about it and I didn't plan to. It didn't matter how I felt. I was playing this game to win. If I lost, Tenshi would never speak to me again.
