A New Beginning

Chapter 7

"No, but she did hear my voice. I doubt she would have recognized it over all the chaos," said Ash.

"That's reassuring," said Gary sarcastically.

"Did she saw Charizard?" asked Brock.

"Can't tell."

Silence fell for a moment among the three before Brock spoke up again.

"On the other hand, you've gained quite the attention around here you know."

"What do you mean?"

"The students in the academy are all talking about the mysterious trainer who takes down criminals. Its all over the internet," replied Gary.

"Yeah well, they can say goodbye to their mysterious buddy, cause I am not doing it again," Ash said tiredly as he got up and opened the fridge for a drink. He took out three cans and handed two of them to his friends, which they took.

"For the time being, that would be the best option," said Brock, opening his can.

"Even so, I can't really just stand by and see all this crimes happen in front of me. And let's be honest, today was a tough predicament for just the police to handle," said Ash, as he sat back on the couch.

"True, but this is not Kanto. You could always interfere with the affairs over there since you are the champ. The authorities can't stop you from doing so. But the situation here is different," explained Gary, taking a sip from his drink.

"Yeah, but that doesn't bother me right now. I am actually nervous about something else..." said Ash as the other two looked curiously at him.

"What is it?"

"Well...um...its about May."

"You think she will find out about you? I doubt. Don't worry I can pretty much distract her from you," said Gary.

"Let's be honest here, you just want to get a chance to simp around her," said Brock.

"Shut it old man. At least I don't get rejected by girls every single time," said Gary with a chuckle. Brock looked pretty ticked at that comment. "Why you-"

"Guys," Ash interrupted them as they looked at him. "The reason I am worried, its because May is my-"

*Knock*Knock*

The sudden yet polite knock on the door caught their attention. But it wasn't from the front door, rather from the other door which separated Ash's room from his roommate.

"Excuse me. Are you in there Ash?" A girl's voice could be heard from the other side.

Brock and Gary looked at Ash in shock as they just realised that he has a roommate. But Gary was more shocked when he recognised the voice from the other side.

"Ash? Are you there?"

"Yeah..."

Ash immediately bit his tongue at his absentminded response. The doorknob started to turn itself indicating the person was about to enter.

Panicking, the three of them started to hide. Brock rushed inside the bathroom while Gary ran towards the balcony. Ash started to hid under his bed... "Wait...Why am I hiding?" He thought as he got up quickly and sat on his couch with Pikachu, while stabilizing his breathing.

The door opened and revealed May who was wearing a cute polka dots pajama. Her smooth, brown hair was falling freely on her shoulders. She smelled really nice, as if she just had come out of a relaxing bath.

"Hi," she greeted Ash with a smile while approaching him.

"Uh...hey May what's up? You can sit here," Ash said gesturing towards the bed.
