"Hey, ya gonna move or what?" a gruff voice mumbled from behind you, turning to the tall Devorian you looked ahead and noted the line had gone significantly down. With a nervous laugh and your fingers rubbing your neck, you hummed a quick apology and took big steps until you could no longer. Your cheeks remained a bright scarlet, foolish to have been so in your own head about Tech and his non-existent feelings for you that you were ignoring your own surroundings.
"Howdy, welcome to Green Bean. What can I get you today?" the perky seller asked, a forced smile on her cheeks. You rubbed your chin, deep in thought again, although this time you were sure you wouldn't go into an existential crisis.
"C'mon! Some of us haven't got all day, ya know?" the same guy groaned, brows furrowed in frustration. You felt pressured, but you had waited your turn just like everyone else, and you weren't going to mess up this order even if your life depends on it. You ignored the moron's complaints and went back to thinking, opening your mouth then quickly closing it to frustrate the man behind you even more.
"C'mon all ready!" he yelled, yet you didn't yield, opening your mouth with your order on the cusp of your tongue, "Get outta the way!" you were suddenly shoved to the side, pushed to the ground like scum. Standing up, you patted the dry dirt off of your trousers and stepped back up to the cashier. You glared at the Devorian, poking his shoulder until he turned to you, "What?" he snarled.
"I do believe I was in front of you," your tone was light, juxtaposing the hatred in your eyes. The grouch rolled his eyes, baring his shoulder to you with a shrug, "Yeah, so? You ain't here now are ya?" he turned back to the cashier and began to order.
You coughed aloud, gaining his attention again, "Okay, sir, I don't think you heard me the last time so I'll say it slower. I was in front of you."
"Aha, you think ya a real wise guy, eh?"
"Smarter than your average bear, definitely smarter than you but then again, I don't think it's much of a competition when your muscles clog up your brain." you had been used to demeaning comments from Crosshairs before he...y'know, so you were quite good at coming up with snappy one-liners just like that.
The Devorian cracked his fingers, next moving to his wrists, if it took him this long to throw a punch you may as well lie down on the floor from boredom. He took a swing at you, but what this poor gentlemonster failed to know about you is that you've spent years training with one of the most successful and dangerous clone batches in history.
Grabbing his fist mid-air, you spun around and heaved him over your shoulder, watching as he fell onto his back with a pained groan; Wrecker had taught you that move. Dusting your hands off of his filth, you went back to the cashier and placed your order, smiling to yourself as the small crowd that had formed clapped and whistled for you.
The woman had easily made your coffees and left them for you to retrieve, just as your hands cupped them, the man from the floor stood, cracking his neck like an ape.
"Oh, it is on!" he roared, rushing at you. Your eyes widened, grip on the coffee tightening, "Add it to a tab, I'll pay for it later." you muttered to the cashier, not waiting for a reply as you dashed off back towards the ship. You could hear the thunderous pows of the Devorian chasing you, calling you through the crowds, hefty threats following after.
You were able to create a reasonable distance between you and the hound dog, but he was still on your tail no matter how many alleys you went down. You soon saw the saviour that was the Havoc and the pilot that would whisk you away. He was walking around the ship, observing his fine handy work, cleaning his hands free of dirt with the rag from earlier.
"Tech!" you screamed, getting closer to him. He turned to you, helmet still covering his face, "(Y/N)? Where have you been, I was worried something had happened to you." he stated, his gaze flicking between your anxious expression and the shaking coffees in your hands.
"You have a minute?" you hurried out, constantly flipping your head over your shoulder to check behind you.
"Hmm, what's up?" he hummed out, taking one coffee from your hand, lifting the lid to check the order, secretly thrilled he picked the right one.
"I have a problem," you huffed, eyes widening when you saw the large crowds departing in areas, no doubt your assailant catching up to you again.
"Well, now you have two," Tech mumbled, walking to the entrance of the Havoc, standing on the ramp when you responded.
"How's that?" you frowned, whipping your head over to him, slowly becoming disgusted with the idea that Tech won't help you.
"I'm not interested in your first problem." he smirked, yet it was hidden under his helmet so it hid his playfulness. However, when he saw your sunken expression, he went to quickly change his phrasing. Well, he would have if a giant brute the same size as Wrecker didn't just show up, pants coming out in harsh grunts, "I found you! Thought you could get away from me, I'm about to show you what it's like to have these muscles!"
"Ugh, he couldn't have come up with something a little better." Tech sighed, not panicking at all, unlike you. You had dived behind Tech, arm wrapped around one of his as you attempted to drag him into the ship..which...couldn't....fly.
Ugh, why do you do these things to yourself!
"Why are you not freaking out right now? He's literally running at us!" you screamed out, coffee dropping to the ground in fear. Tech rolled his eyes under his mask, coffee still held in one grip, he used the other hand to raise his blaster and stunned the violent alien. The Devorian fell to the ground with a puff of dirt encircling him, knocked out cold.
"W-what just happened?" you questioned, peeking out from over Tech's shoulder. Tech pocketed his blaster back in its rightful strap, using his now free hand to pull his helmet off, "Simple, I stunned him. I don't really think he had a battle plan."
"Or any plan at all,"
"Hmm, don't come to a blaster fight with a knife as they say," Tech mused, sipping his coffee, "Wow, you were right, this is rather good." he praised, taking another sip, after working all day this is truly what he needed.
"I wouldn't know," you huffed, now feeling bitter that you had gone through all the commotion and dropped your coffee without having a single taste. Tech mused the idea burning in his head, rolling the possibilities around, but the good seemed to outweigh the bad.
"C'mon," he gently tugged on your hand, pulling you off of the Havoc's ramp and around the Devorian's unconscious body.
"Where are we going? We have to keep repairing the ship,"
"I did it all while you were gone, and you haven't had the opportunity to try this coffee, gracious knows I'm not offering you mine."
"You're such a gentleman, Tech."
"Aha, anything for you, my dear, anything for you."
You and Tech had spent the rest of the day sipping coffee and just talking, well, Tech did most of the talking but you were happy to listen along. Look's like you got to have your coffee date after all, weird how things work.
