Strength or Entertainment?

The question that Kamakiri asked still reverberated in my head as I lay in bed.

It was a thought that stubbornly refused to leave.

I decided to pace around my room to try and alleviate this head ache.

In my ideal life, I could simply look on from the sidelines. Kick back, and simply enjoy the show.

A truly entertaining time.

But, if things went as expected, it wouldn't be entertaining.

Like re-reading the same story multiple times.

ᵒʳ ʳᵉᵃᵈⁱⁿᵍ ᵃⁿᵒᵗʰᵉʳ ʳᵉᵃᶜᵗⁱᵒⁿ ᶠᵃⁿ⁻ᶠⁱᶜ

Hmmm? I thought I heard something there.... Anyway

It only serves as a way to reminisce, no longer the same twist and turns you experienced when you first read it.

That's why I was at a loss.

Should I interfere with the movements that man was making?

If left to his own devices, he would surely win. And that simply wouldn't be interesting.

After all, no one in our year seemed to match up to Koenji.

This isn't to say that he would always remain at the top, in fact there could very well be many others who would reach his level in the years to follow.

But right now he was an existence that the students currently could not reach

That's why he would undoubtedly rule the class, even if Sakayanagi and Ryuuen tried their best.

And that's where my dilemma came.... Having the strongest become ruler was too normal...

Now having the underdog overcome challenges and defeat the foe? I'd never seen it done in recent years, only read of it in books pre-dating the release of the seal.

Should I intervene and have someone else take control? But then who would -

?!???!

....

That.... Startled me

The immense pressure I felt when that man entered our building dormitory... was quite something to say the least.

It wasn't hard to tell what his goal was

....

I slowly crept to the door, ready for what was coming.

"It's evident that you know I'm here. Open the door" a mans voice talked from the corridor

I twisted the knob and opened the door.

I met the gaze of his dark red eyes

"Horikita-senpai, to what do I owe this pleasure?"

"You should already know why I'm here"

"I suppose I have some ideas-"

"Join the student council"

It was more an order than a request...

"Unfortunately I won't be able to do that, having a student join the council on the first day would be suspicious. Especially when they're chosen over students like Koenji"

......

The silence was quite awkward

"We wouldn't have this problem in the first place if your father allowed you to be shown to the public" Horikita squeezed his eyebrows

"It's not only his wish, but my own as well"

That man and I never agreed on many things, but wanting to keep my strength hidden was something we were one in the same on

"After all, if they are made aware of me, it wouldn't be too unreasonable for them to mobilize people to snip the bud" I continued

"It wouldn't be possible for them to break into this place" Horikita challenged

"That's only for now, soon enough you will graduate. After you leave, there won't be enough Hashira level slayers to stop them from a frontal assault"

"You're quite confident that they would even attempt an assault like that"

"Wouldn't be the first time"

.....

"In the end though, I wouldn't be the one who dies anyway. However, I can't say the same for the rest of the students here" I explained

....

"I understand your worries, but it will be impossible for you to improve at the pace you need, if you don't join the council"

?

"Does joining the council entail you to some benefits the rest of the student body doesn't receive?" I asked

"Of course, the student council is only made up of the elite after all"

"Hmmmm"

"I can also promise you this... the people there, are quite entertaining" he grinned

......

"Give me some time to think about it..." I answered

"I hope you make the right choice Kiyotaka, your potential is the highest I've ever seen, but even now you're like an unpolished gem" he stated as he walked through the corridor

I slowly closed the door, ignoring the person who was eavesdropping.

I'm sure Horikita also sensed this person, but he decided to leave them alone.

Well, truthfully it was his fault anyway. He shouldn't have released such a presence when he arrived.

"Student council huh..." I muttered to no one in particular

Entertainment, or becoming stronger? Truly a difficult choice.

But it seems the student council could solve both.

Authors Note: anyone still reading this? Are you enjoying it? Cuz I'm sure as hell not enjoying writing it.

I read my other fanfic, and honestly, I was going crazy bro. I had (and yeah this is biased) good ass writing and everything, way better than this garbage im doing. Idk why I'm doing so bad on this fan fic.

I think it's cuz I don't really like Demon Slayer like that. Because I'm writing another fan fic and I'm actually enjoying that one. Way more than this one.

If you got mad at that one reaction line, that makes me feel better, after all
