💚 (Y/N)'s POV 💚

My forehead was pressed against the glass window of the yellow, dirtied bus. I fidgeted nervously with my fingers as they buried themselves in my pockets. My mother had sent me to some art camp. And though I was thankful she sent me for something I was passionate about, I wasn't so excited about being around other people. Not to sound edgy, but people are annoying, and judgmental, and just rude.
An anxious sigh escaped my lips as the bus pulled into a dirt path, and skidded to a halt in front of a tall man, and a short boy in a blue hoodie.
The doors flung open, and I grabbed the handle of my suitcase as the old bus driver grumbled, "Bus is here."
I thanked him quietly, and walked down the steep stairs and onto the ground, facing the red-headed man.
"Hello, there! You must be (Y/N)! Nice to meet you!" he greeted me cheerfully.
I smiled awkwardly. "Thanks. Nice to meet you, too."
The darker boy beside him rolled his mountain meadow eyes. His hands were also stuffed in the pocket of his hoodie, and he had black, fluffy hair.
"(Y/N), this is Max! Max, this is (Y/N)! I'm David, the Camp Campbell Camp counselor!" The man patted my head, and I stifled a growl that threatened in my throat.
"(Y/N), come with me! I'll show you to our wonderful co-counselor, Gwen!" David grabbed Max by his hood, and dragged him along as he led me to a large, wooden cabin labeled 'Mess Hall.' He opened the doors, letting out a shocked gasp at the chaos that unfolded before us.
"Motherfucker!" a woman with reddish-brown hair and violet eyes yelled, throwing forks at a fan that flung a kid with a fishbowl around his head through the air.
I let out a snort of amusement, assuming that was Gwen. Wonderful co-counselor, my brain repeated.
Max stood beside me, and looked at me. I looked back at him, uncomfortably.
   "What?" I asked.
"Nothing," he responded, coolly as he looked back at the misbehaving kids.
"What a shit show," I mumbled.
"Woah, balls." Max looked at me again with a quick smile, but it disappeared as David walked back to us.
The chaos calmed, and we walked into the structure.
"Gwen, this is our new camper, (Y/N)!" David explained, a smile regrowing on his face.
"Oh, awesome. Another snot-nosed toddler," the woman replied, not so enthusiastically.
I narrowed my eyes. "So.. this is Art Camp?" I looked at the two counselors quizzically.
"There are many camps, art included! We have Space camp, skating camp-" David gulped before continuing, "-behavioral correction camp.. theatre ca-"
"Nobody gives a shit, David. We don't care to hear this again," Max shot, cutting off David's sentence.
Sympathy for the counselor echoed through my chest, and I gazed at the tan boy. "What's up your ass?"
He snapped his eyes back to me, and rolled them.
"Oh, (Y/N)! This is Dolf. He is here for Art Camp, as well!" David announced.
My stomach churned at the small boy. He was adorable, but looked like five year-old Hitler. I shuddered. "Hey, I'm (Y/N)," I greeted him.
"Nice to meet you, (Y/N)!" he replied in a German accent.

After a while, I had learned all of the campers names, and what they were here for. Besides Max, they didn't say what he was here for.
I dropped my suitcase beside my cot, in the tent that Max brought me into. I never heard of sleeping in the same tent as a boy during summer camp, but we're eleven. It's not like we'd do anything, anyways.
I let out another trailing sigh. This was going to be a long summer.

💙 Max's POV 💙

I was slightly upset at the news that (Y/N) and I would be sharing a tent, but it's whatever.
I sat beside the mess hall with Neil and Nikki, as they rambled about something.
"So, did you meet (Y/N)?" Nikki asked.
   "Yeah."
"What do you think of her so far?" Neil joined.
"She's okay. Kind of a bitch, honestly."
Nikki and Neil exchanged odd glances, and shrugged.
"Well, learn to deal with it," Neil said. "She's your tent mate, now."
I rolled my eyes. "Don't remind me."
"Maybe we just need to get to know her. She seems nice!" Nikki piped, jumping to her feet.
Maybe, I thought to myself. She wasn't that bad looking, either, and she seemed to have almost the same attitude as me for the most part. Maybe this summer won't be as bad as I thought.

💚(Y/N)'s POV💚

I sat at a table with Harrison, Nerris, Nurf, and Preston during dinner, prodding at the mush on my tray. I wasn't that hungry, especially not for whatever this was supposed to be.
I sighed as Harrison and Nerris broke into an argument over 'magic.'
I jumped at the sudden tap on my shoulder. I whipped around the see Max, staring down at me.
Honestly? He's kinda cute, not gonna lie. I mentally laughed at the remark.
"Wanna sit with us?" he asked, a coat of red gently resting on his cheeks.
I looked back at the fighting kids beside me, and looked back. "Yeah, sure." I smiled, grabbing my tray and following him to another table.
I plotted myself beside Nikki, who was literally inhaling her food.
"Hiya, (Y/N)!" she exclaimed, mouth crammed with mash.
I oscillated to her kindly, and went back to poking the stuff on my platter.
"How do you like camp so far?" Neil asked.
"It's okay. Only really did one art thing," I admitted.
"Yeah, this is a shitty camp," Max sounded in front of me.
I chuckled. "Is it that bad?"
   "Yes."
I playfully rolled my eyes, taking a bite of my food. It wasn't actually horrible in taste. It was like slightly stale mashed potatoes.

💙Max's POV💙

(Y/N) is actually kinda pretty. I know I'm supposed to be tough and shit, and we literally just met today, but damn. I'd date her over anyone else here.
Woah- what?? Where did dating come from? And why would she like some asshole like me, anyways?
I was wrong about her attitude being close to mine. She was a lot sweeter. I liked that about her. She wasn't terribly rude, but she wasn't terribly nice, either.
   "Max?"
I snapped from my thoughts and looked up. Neil was staring at me awkwardly.
"Whatcha looking at?" His blue eyes flickered between me and (Y/N).
"What- oh. No!" I snarled. Was I staring at (Y/N)?
   "Mhm," the nerd hummed, disbelieving.
"I'm going to go back to our tent," (Y/N) yawned, lifting herself from the green bench.
"Okay!" Nikki said, her wide, pink eyes resting on the short girl.
"Bye," I said, which seemed to catch her by surprise.
She smiled, and nodded to me and Neil.
As she left, Nikki turned back to me. "Tell me! Do you like her?"
"Huh?" I choked, masking the blush on my face with confusion. "We just met!"
"But you invited her over here," Neil pointed out.
"Yeah? Because we got off on the wrong foot at first. Doesn't mean I like her." I glared at the two in surprise.
Did I really already catch feelings for her?
