"Geez, so fast." She said quickly, stopping him. Demilade looked at her and reluctantly stopped. "Chill. I'm not biting you." She sounded offended.
"And I don't remember saying you are. I left a group of people and they will be wondering where I am. So I have to leave." He told her and he turned to leave.
"Is that all? Is that just the reason?"
"Excuse me? And what's that supposed to mean?" Demilade asked.
"Nothing. Sorry." She apologized with a wave of surrender.
"Better." He muttered under his breath looking away, frustrated.
"How about dinner to catch up on things?"
"You don't have to try too hard Angela. It's not going to work. Ever." He spoke bluntly, hurting her feelings. "Don't push it. I already have a girlfriend and I am not open to anyone else."
"And is that why you are being so serious and rude? You were not like this before. And now you are running back to her. Right? Or... " She gave a wry laugh.
"Are you stalking me?" He cut her off by asking.
But she continued without answering him, pretending he didn't say anything. He was getting her mad and she kind of wanted to pay him back a little for that. "Or you are probably scared of your girlfriend? She is not scary enough to me. You know she can't do anything. Nothing." She spoke, scoffing.
A deep frown morphed on Demilade face. She was staring at him hard-on, confident that she was right and hoping to hear what he will say.
"Don't you ever talk about my girlfriend that way ever again? She is ten times the woman you are not. Not even close to the woman you will ever be. She is nothing like you and comparing her to yourself is stupid. You're nothing compared to her." Demilade cursed.
The hard stare she had on quickly dissolved into that of pain and hurt. His words had cut her by surprise and he didn't expect him to be that mean. Demilade can be very hard according to what she heard people say but he never showed that side to her. Demilade was one of the richest guys she ever dated and she didn't even seduce or try so hard. She always sees him as a soft person, too caring, and loves too hard for a man. And that had been why her relationship with him was the best she had in a very long time. Even up till the moment.
She got money, sex, and whatever she want from the rich men that she date or hook up with it. But no one ever cared sincerely and worshipped her like Demilade. Despite most of his friends don't like her. He didn't change. He was quick to defend her. He gave her the attention most guys don't give to her. It was so much to the extent that she started getting irritated by it. She had always liked the hard type that she had to work on - like some kind of goal and achievement but he was just too soft and head over heels for her. And at that time, his money was her priority. She never wanted a serious relationship. She wasn't ready to commit. She just wants to live a good life, have fun and be on top of her friends. She wanted to be worshipped. And Demilade gave her all that and more. But she threw everything away.
She couldn't deny the fact that she still missed him to date. She might be dating other men, getting the materials and things she needs, going to parties, and having fun but it can't be compared to the attention and love Demilade gave to her when they were dating.
A few months after she dupe him, she realized that she had lost a diamond while picking stones. But it was too late. Demilade had blocked people out of his life. And she heard people talk about how strict he was and cold he can be. Although, it didn't stop people from surrounding him or admiring him. She usually heard how those rich men she hooks up with discussed him. Most of them admire him more than they like him for the kind of person he had built himself to be.
