It was a calm and silent night as the tall figure walks along the ocean edge. The silent waves that lick the beach's sand barely reach to touch the figure's shoes, leaving his footprints to be imprinted onto the sand than washed away by the ocean waves. He doesn't remember going to the beach, but it was better than finding himself walking on the bridges that go above the sea of lava in the nether. The sudden shift of soft grass to the crunchy sound of the sand underneath his feet was what brought him of his daze. He would have walked back home if the moon's gaze didn't call to him, causing his feet to take him across the beach to who knows where.
Lifting his head up to the sky, he finds himself lost in the thousands of stars dancing, and painting the night sky. Soon enough, the sand changes to wood, and the soft thuds of his footsteps hitting the dock broke the silence. He walks along the dock until he reaches the end, standing in silence to gaze out into the still ocean. It was calming and soothing to say the least. It helped relax the raging storm inside his head to a more gentle rainfall. The small rain drops creating puddles where he can stare into, and hope to see the memories of what he couldn't remember.
He can't tell how long he stood at the edge of the dock, letting his mind fall into a numbing daze as the raging storm of emotions and thoughts dies down. The salty ocean scent fills his lungs nearly burning it if he wasn't so used to it. Even living in a more snowy area, the salty scent of the ocean would still fill his lungs at times if he stood still long enough to be able to catch it under the icy scent of snow and ice. He still doesn't understand why he came to the beach of all places. It should be the one place he should be avoiding thanks to his genetics. Even that was still a mystery to him. Everything felt like a mystery to him.
The once gentle rain started to push down harder, making it difficult to look into the puddles, and causes the memories he nearly had in his hands slip away. It probably would have gotten worse if the soft thuds of footsteps from behind didn't break him from his thoughts. He decides to ignore the new presence, waiting for them to reveal themselves instead of turning around to see who it was. The person stops beside him, a mop of black hair being the only thing he sees out of the corner of his eye thanks to his height. It was another part of his genetics.
"Enjoying the night, Ranboo?
"Yeah."
It felt odd to talk in a calming atmosphere as this one, so Ranboo doesn't say anything more, letting Sapnap take the lead of this conversation if he decides to continue it. When was the last time he actually talked to the man? He can't remember, and he felt bad. Maybe they talked about something important once, and he doesn't even remember it anymore. The swirling thoughts in his head makes it harder to enjoy the calm and silent atmosphere. What if he was thinking too hard, and it's making Sapnap uncomfortable? Was he thinking too hard? Ranboo goes to ask, but the shorter male beats him to it.
"Are you still up for that boat ride? It would have been better if we actually had an adventure, but I feel like right now would be a good time than ever."
A boat ride? Did he promise a boat ride? When? He tries to dig in his head for any clues, but all he got was empty chests. He must have looked confused because Sapnap softly laughs as he rubs the back of his neck, staring out into the ocean with tired eyes.
"You must have forgotten, huh? That's okay, I guess. Luckily, I kept the letters you sent, just in case you forgot."
Ranboo watches as Sapnap reaches into his pocket, and takes out a piece of paper that looks like it's been folded multiple times. When the raven haired male hands it to him, he takes it in his hands, and unfolds it until he sees worn out and wrinkled words on the paper. He looks down to stare at Sapnap, but he simply gives him a nod, giving him permission to read the letter. Ranboo could immediately tell that it was in his handwriting, taking in the familiar curves of his writing, and his signature at the end of the letter. So, he did agree to a boat ride one day. One filled with adventure, and maybe even treasure hunting.
