Chapter 19 ~ rooftop

"DR JUNG!" Taehyung called out through the hall making the woman he had been searching for turn around

"Oh my god, Taehyung you frightened me" she said putting a hand on her chest as Taehyung ran up to her, breathing rapidly "what's the matter? Is something wrong!?"

"No no... nothings... wrong" the boy said in between breaths

"Here" the woman took out a unopened bottle of water from her lab coat pocket which Taehyung gladly accepted m

When taehyungs breathing was under control he remembered why he was looking for her in the first place "you told me if I was one hundred percent certain that jungkook wouldn't do anything stupid you'd let us go to the roof, right?"

The woman crossed her arms "no, what I said was that I'd think about it"

"Well think about this, that boy hasn't been out in forever, god knows when the last time he saw sunlight was, all I'm asking is for him to be able to see something different then what's inside this building and I'll even keep him away from the edge if that's what you want, I just know how happy it'll make him and I have to at least try"

"I don't kno-"

"Yes you do, you know that it'll make him happy and you know that I'm right and that I won't let anything happen to him, just let me make his day a bit better pleeeeeeeeeeease" Taehyung grabbed onto the womans arm as he begged like a child asking his mother for something

"Ok fine! But only for an hour, no longer. I can give you access but just be quick"

Taehyungs face lit up as he thanked the woman multiple times before running back to jungkooks room

As jungkook sat on the bed waiting for Taehyung he noticed that all of his stuff was still here

There's no way he left

Why did he run out?

Did I say something wrong? did I do something?

Finally after what felt like forever the loud buzz sounded and Taehyung was back

"Where did you go?" Jungkook asked, standing up

Instead of an answer Taehyung replied "Do you trust me?"

"What" jungkook asked, confused

"Do you trust me" Taehyung repeated, this time slower

"I mean, yeah... of course I trust you but why?"

"Then close your eyes" jungkook was so confused he had no idea why Taehyung was being like this but was anxious to find out

"Why?"

"Just do it"

Slowly jungkook closed his eyes, making his nerves shoot up

"Promise me you won't open them until I tell you to"

Sceptically jungkook answered "I promise" and within seconds he felt himself being lifted off of his feet "tae, what are you doing?"

Taehyung had picked him up over his shoulder and walked out of the door

Hearing the buzzer and feeling Taehyung walk with him he knew that he had left his room but still had no idea where he was going

"You know wherever you're taking me I could just walk"

"But then you'd bump into things with your eyes closed and I don't want you getting hurt"

"Or I could just open my eyes" jungkook took promises very seriously and although everything in him was telling him to open his eyes they stayed shut

"Then that'll ruin the surprise"

"Just tell me where you're taking me"

"I thought you trusted me?"

"I'm starting to trust you less and less right now"

Without replying Taehyung just started walking faster, hopefully knowing where to go and not getting lost

"Tae, are we there yet?" Jungkook whined, the position he's in starting to get uncomfortable

"Almost" as Taehyung reached the door that had bars on the window and a sign that said 'rooftop, keycard access required', he fastened his pace knowing he was nearly there

Putting jungkook down in front of the door Taehyung took his keycard out "keep your eyes closed" he told the younger before opening the door and pulling jungkook by him arm outside

Feeling the soft breeze hit his skin, jungkook knew he was outside and excitement raced through his body

"open your eyes"

Jungkook slowly opened his eyes, scared to see where he was

Nothing that he had imagined compared to this, he looked around overwhelmed with all the colours and the lights

Dr Jung was right, with the building being high up you could see the whole city from here

As it started getting dark with the sun setting, the lights were brought to life

Jungkook was speechless, taking in everything he was seeing with wide eyes and full of excitement for once he felt some shred of normality

"Do you like it? I thought it would beat the sight of your room"

"I- I-...." jungkook truly couldn't think of anything to say besides two words "thank you" The youngers vision started to get blurry when he ran up and hugged Taehyung, burying his face into the olders shoulder letting his tears escape "thank you so much"

"Please don't cry, I thought you'd be happy"

"I am happy" jungkook let go of the older, turning around to look back out at the city and the beautiful pinky orange sky

"Sometimes I forget that there's a whole world out there that exists" jungkook said wiping his tears away

"And one day I'll show you all of it, but for now we can look from a distance"

Jungkook smiled at the older boy "Please don't get my hopes up"
