She looked at the modern giant grandfather clock beside the TV settee. The time read eighteen minutes past nine. She turned away and went over to one of the armchairs in the room. She fell on one of the seats in the sitting room, exhaling loudly.

She was exhausted from all the day's events. Leaving one party to the other. Greeting almost everyone. From those who don't honestly like Demilade and those he wasn't so pleased with either but just have to tolerate, to those who looked up to him like a semi-god and role model to those who admired him and respected him sincerely. They had to say one or two things to them. Coupled with the introduction. She was forced to remember a few names and with some, no one had to remind her of their names because they were popular figures.

But it was actually fun. She enjoyed being around Demilade. He made her feel special. She felt like a queen. He was proud to introduce her. And he didn't hesitate to state how he feels if anyone tries to look down at her.

Yes, it wasn't everyone that was pleased with her. Especially his female fans or clients. Even up to some married women. Some saw her as a gold digger, unworthy. They pried, trying to find out what she does, who she mingled with and who are parents are, and what they do. Like that is the most important thing. Like she doesn't matter if she wasn't up to the standards they want. Like it was the rules that guide those who are in their gathering.

Social segregation.

You must have one level or the other. And the higher the level, the higher the level of respect.

And that is what it meant to them to be called worthy. The annoying social damn hierarchy.

She saw how people who were far older than Demilade in age, who were old enough to be his father called him sir with so much respect. Those who didn't call him sir had a clear tone of respect when speaking with him. And their body language was nothing but ultimate respect and admiration for him. Some felt like they were walking on a ticking bomb around him which could denote if there made just a single mistake.

Yeah, that was the level of respect and fear some people have for him. Some of which he was oblivious to.

Even the way people acted around him was something she couldn't believe. They even reciprocate that love and respect for her. They were treating her like a queen.

The reporters also did well to make her the highlight of almost all the events. All thanks to her billionaire boyfriend whom everyone wants to talk to, drink with, hug, and crave attention.

And the said man was a bit unconcerned. He answered those he wants to answer. He greeted only those he said were worth his time. And he laughed with only those he sincerely respected. He was mostly impassive with a lot of people. But it didn't change how they viewed him.

The respect. The fear. The admiration didn't change.

And it was like the invisible rules guiding those in those strata of life.

It was a bit complicated in their world. But it was something she knew she would have to get used to.

And aside from all that, she admitted that she enjoyed her day but it does not mean it was all sunshine. Some ladies were talking badly about her. Some men even saw her unworthy of someone like Demilade. A man had even joked that she had probably charmed him. But Demilade reaction after that, filled her with so much joy.

Although what he did was a bit mean and disrespectful. He had also joked humorlessly about his company being saved by a woman - his daughter-in-law. And his son had been forced to get married to a woman whom he didn't love and who doesn't respect any of the family members.
