I walked next to him, Julian, as he walked me back to my car.
"Alison, we need to talk about this."
"J, look I can't right now I need to get home."
"You can't honestly think this job is a good idea! That's 4 hours away!"
"Okay?" I questioned as I looked at him, his eyes full of hurt.
"Don't go, don't end us for a job."
"J, this is my dream!"
"And YOU are mine Alison!"
"I'm sorry, I'm going you can't keep me here!"
I got in my car and left, him in tears, as I look in my rearview mirror.

PRESENT DAY:

That was 5 years ago, now, I'm on my way home. Leaving my friends, to continue with a better career in my hometown. I'm staying with my parents, until I find a place.
What that means is possibly seeing Julian... I left him in tears, it broke me. More than he thinks it did. I still love him. I hope he still loves me.
I drive into my parent's driveway, and I turn off my car. I got out, got out my suitcase, and studied the house I once lived in, nothing has changed, I walked up to the front door. Looking at everything I left 5 years ago.
I knocked on the door and heard a faint "Hold on!"
Then the door opened, my mother answered, her hair starting to fade from brown to gray, and her blue eyes sparkled as she looked at me.
"Alison! My dear, come in!"
"Hi mom!" I said as I walked in, then leaned in for a hug.
"Finally home, my babygirl."
"Yes, mom."
"Well, you must be hungry."
"I am, very much." I say as my stomach growls.
"Well, go on up to your room, dinner should be done soon, your father will be here soon too."
"Okay." I say as I start up the steps.
I walked into my old room nothing has changed. Everything is exactly how I left it.
I laid my suitcase down and went over and looked at my board of photo's, particularly the ones with Julian and I.
Then I think about that night, how I left, and then I let a silent tear fall.
I hear my father come home, then my mother yelled for me for dinner.
I go downstairs greet my father, and hug him, then we sit down to dinner.
"How's life been treating you, Allie?"
"Good, dad been very happy."
"That's good dear."
"Yeah, how's Julian? Have you seen him?"
The room fell silent.
"Hello?"
"Julian, is good." My mother started. "He's happy and engaged to be married."
I stopped. "Oh..." my stomach dropped.
"Allie, are you okay?" My dad asked his eyes filled with worry.
"Yeah, dad." I gave him a weak smile. "I'm happy for him."
"Any plans for tomorrow, my dear?" My mom asked changing the subject.
"Umm... Just job searching."
"Didn't you have one?" My dad asked.
"I did, then I quit to move home, now I'm looking at other options."
"Okay, I hope it all goes well." He said with a smile.
"Thank you." I smiled back.
We finished the rest of dinner in silence.

Later, as I laid down for bed, I recieved a text from Julian, I thought my heart was going to stop.
Julian: Hey, your mom told me you were coming back to town. Glad you're back :)
Me: Yeah, I heard you're engaged, Congratulations.
Julian: Yeah, thanks, she's great.
Me: Yeah, I bet, we gotta catch up soon.
Julian: Definitely.
Me: Talk soon.
Julian: Definitely, goodnight
Me: Goodnight
I went to bed with butterflies like a teenage girl.
