12: What Could Possibly Go Wrong?

Start from the beginning

Oh, in that case, you can tell Solomon the same story you told Satan.

"I... Okay. I think I know what I can tell him. And the last condition?"

Diavolo's aura gets strong, and his sudden, cold stare intimidates you.

"Three: you are not to hurt any other demon in Devildom. If the Misguided Soul is not a man-eating demon, if it's just a random resident, then you are to leave them alone. The fight from this morning is excused, but that is your only warning."

Ah.

Of course.

A threat.

You shouldn't be as surprised as you are. They are demons, after all.

"It's against my moral code to hurt the innocent anyway. Even if they're demons, they're not the ones I'm after." This time, you hold your right hand out, "I agree to those terms, Diavolo."

You should really start watching movies with demons in them. Honestly, who shakes hands with a fucking devil?

When his large, rough hand grabs yours, a red, holographic chain spirals up both your arm and Diavolo's. It locks down on your arms then disappears as if nothing happened.

"Ah..." You pull your hand away, "I just made a deal with the devil... How cliche..."

As if the mood suddenly shifts, Diavolo lets out a hearty laugh.

"Don't look so down!" Diavolo smiles warmly, "Now, was there anything else?"

"Uhh," You look at the crumbled paper in your left hand, "...No, that was it."

"Rui," Diavolo nods, "Thank you for joining us, I trust that you know to keep this confidential."

Rui stands up only to bow a whole 90 degrees: "Yes, sir!"

"[Y/n]," Lucifer starts, "Why don't you call Solomon? We might as well get it over with now."

——

"You know, I knew there was something peculiar about you," Solomon chuckles after hearing the same shit you told Satan, "Your aura, scars, mannerisms, and outfit should've been evidence enough that you weren't just an ordinary human exchange student."

"Really? I would've guessed it was from this mark," You grin, pulling your left sleeve to cover Sekido's demon mark.

"Right, that too."

"It'll be nice to work together, don't you think? After all," You lean close and nudge his side with your elbow, "us humans have to stick it in each other, right?"

Lucifer can only sigh in disappointment. The others found it funny, though. Except for Rui, he didn't understand the joke.

This time it was Solomon's turn to laugh, "Did you mean 'stick with each other?'"

"Yeah, that too!"

"Well, in any case, now you know what the situation is. I hope I can count on you to help," Diavolo uncrosses his arms to hold his right hand out.

"And what? Miss out on an adventure with overwhelming odds and little to no chance of success?" Solomon shakes Diavolo's hand, "How can I resist?"

"Hey, c'mon. I'm not that bad of a Demon Slayer," You pout.

"How would you rank yourself then?" Barbatos asks.

"There are eleven ranks in the Demon Slayer Corps," You explain, "The ranks are basically on a scale of one to ten, with ten being the lowest. The highest rank is not easy to obtain, considering there are only nine members in that rank."
