21. Moment of Truth

Rajveer literally shouts out of anger and frustration. Gumny's heart sinks upon seeing his friend so helpless.

"Tu janta hai uske fiancé ko?"

Asks Gunny

"Nahi, or janna bhi nahi chahta ab. Naina ne apna decision le lia hai toh ab koi fayda nahi"

Replies Rajveer

Getting a bit closer to Rajveer, Gunny holds Rajveer by his shoulders.

"She loves you Raj. She loves you more than anything in this world. Shayad uski sagai ke peechay koi wajah ho sakti hai, koi majboori"

Anger surges through Rajveer.

"Majboori..majboori..majboori!! Aisi kya majboori hai jiski wajah se wo sacrifice kar rahi hai? Itni baar pucha maine uss se lekin wo hai ke mujhe apne aap se durr kar rahi hai"

The yelling of Rajveer skips Gunny's heart and Gunny lowers his eyes out of guilt. Somewhere, he feels guilty for hiding the truth from Rajveer.

Just then, something hits Rajveer and he asks looking strangely at Gunny,

"Lekin ye sab tujhe kaise pata? Kya Naina ne tujhse kuch kaha? Tu janta hai ke uska fiancé kon hai?"

Gunny's heartbeat picks up pace as he realizes that this is the moment, moment of truth. He has to spill the beans.

With a lot of courage, looking straightaway in the eyes of Rajveer, Gunny finally confesses,

"Mujhe issiliye pata hai kyunke mein hi hoon Naina ka fiancé. We are engaged Raj"

The Earth slips beneath Rajveer's feat as he stares at Gunny, stunned.

"Tu.."

This is the only thing Rajveer is able to say. His voice comes out like a whisper.

"Raj, please hear me out before you react."

Rajveer keeps straing at Gunny while Gunny continues further,

"Raj, mein tujhe dhoka nahi dena chahta tha. Please trust me, I don't love Naina that way. We are just friends. Ye sagai humein majboori mein karni padi"

Gunny narrates the entire incident to Rajveer regarding the death of his mother and the promise his mother made to Naina. Gunny tells Rajveer how he asked Naina many times to break the engagement off but she doesn't. Rajveer listens to each word without blinking. There is nothing but shock on his face.

Silence takes place as Gunny finishes. Gunny's heartbeat picks up pace as he watches a shocked Rajveer - what if Rajveer starts to hate Gunny.

"Raj..Raj kych toh bol. Tu kya soch raha hai? Please kuch bol. I swear on my mother Raj that I never looked at Naina with bad eyes. I've always respected her as a friend. I have always wished that you and Naina will stay together..please trust me Raj"

After few moments, Rajveer fianlly breaks the ice.

"Mein ye soch raha hoon ke ye wohi KMA wali Naina hai ya phir koi new Naina? Naina itni dumb kaise ho sakti hai"

There is a hint of mischief in his tone.

Gunny narrows his eyes on Rajveer.

"Mathlab?"

"Mathlsb ye ke sath toh dost bann kar bhi raha ja sakta hai. Toh iss sab mein sagai karne ki kya zarurat thi?"

Rajveer speaks amazed.

"EXACTLY MY POINT!"

says Gunny getting hyper and continues further.

"Tu janta toh hai kitni ziddi hai Naina. Ek baat ke peechay parh jaiye toh phir wo kisi ki nahi sunti "

"Bohut achay se janta hoon"

Replies Rajveer, amazed

Gunny looks at Rajveer's face and finds him more shocked than angry.

"Raj, tu theek toh hai na? Tu mujhse naraz hai kya?"

Rajveer's face breaks into a smile and he throws himself in Gunny's embrace.

"Mein bilkul bhi naraz nahi hoon Gunny. In fact I'm happy ke jis se Naina ne sagai ki, wo tu hai."

Breaking the hug, Rajveer stands at a distance and continues,

"You were there with her when I wasn't. Thank you so much Gunny for being such an amazing friend!"

A tear escapes the eyes of Gunny upon witnessing such an understanding Rajveer. Taking off his engagement ring, Gunny throws it in the garbage can. Holding Rajveer by his shoulders, Gunny says,

"Naina humesha se teri hai Raj or aaj mein teri amanat tujhe wapis kar raha hoon"

Rajveer and Gunny share another hug! Gunny then gives an idea to Rajveer in order to make Naina realize what she wants - by being rude to her! Rajveer feels super relaxed upon knowing the truth - time to get his Naina back!

"Mein chalta hoon Raj! Tu ab rest kar!"

Saying so, a smiling Gunny walks towards the door to leave when Rajveer's words arrests him.

"Jo tere or Vidya ke beech mein chal raha haina, mujhe sab pata hai"

Gunny's face colours fades away and he turns towards Rajveer immediately and finds him smirking!

Rajveer continues,

"Mein kuch kehta nahi, that doesn't mean mujhe kuch pata nahi. Vidya is lucky ke usse tujh jaisa life partner mila!"

Now turning a bit serious, Rajveer points his index finger at Gunny and speaks,

"Vidya mere liye meri behan se bhi badh kar hai. Agar tune kabhi usse dukh pohunchaya na Gunny toh sab se pehle uska ye bhai tujhe chorega nahi"

Rajveer warns him seriously and Gunny gulps down his saliva out of fear.

"Mein Vidya ko humesha khush rakhunga Raj, I promise! I love her!"

"I know! I'm so happy for both of you!"

Smiles Rajveer.

Gunny blushes! After having a conversation regarding how Vidya also found out, Gunny leaves from the room!

Raj smiles widely - you are mine Naina and it's high time you realize it!
