A/N: (This whole page is just a slightly self-indulgent Author's Note. Skip ahead and continue with the story if you like!)

 I wanted to tell you the story of why I wrote this story. Except I just realized, I really don't remember. It was that long ago. I've just sort of thought about remembering it for so long that I don't really remember any of the actual details. But I don't want facts to get in the way of a good story, and so the following will have to do. It's close enough that you probably won't know the difference.

So I was sitting around my room late one night, doing one of my favourite things – watching one of those old, old monster movies on my laptop. I love the corny acting, and the cheesy special effects. I find it hilarious every time they stop the action so a scientist can explain something totally obvious like where lava comes from, or zero gravity in space. And then it got to the part where the girl twists her ankle, allowing the monster to corner them...

And suddenly it hit me. Why is it always the girl twisting her ankle? Why are they always putting her in these terrible situations, running from Venusian slime monsters in underground caverns or whatever, while wearing her best dress, pearls and high heels? I don't know any girl who would go exploring caves dressed like that, mainly because she would be just asking to twist her ankle.

In fact, I went on to think, it's almost as likely that the guy would be wearing a dress and pearls as the girl in these situations. And hence, an idea was born. If people could believe that a girl could get herself into such a ridiculous position, I wanted a story where a guy would end up the same way. Let some guy be the damsel in distress for once, and see how that turns out!

This story alternates between horror and humour. My inspiration for this style is shows like the old Buffy TV series. I hope I got it right. Please comment and let me know what you think!
