Rooftop

Keep me up onto my rooftop
Thank goodness that its just a small drop
Wouldn't want all my cans of sodas rolling down the house
Off of the rooftop

The sun is shining
But the roof isn't too hot
The sun is blinding
So we just never look up

We look
Down down down
Off of the rooftop

The cans roll
Down down down
Off of the rooftop

Some burst and split open
Others just hit the ground
Without a little dent
Or without a single sound

We could still climb
Down from the rooftop
To pick the cans back up
Into the trash or back onto the rooftop

Some would say this roof is pretty steep
Others would say I'm still losing my sleep
And the blinding sun is only there to convince me
To keep my eyes closed and never see what's in front of me

And the thin air starts to take my breath away
The cans start to fall all over the ground today
I can't see them rolling off the rooftop so far away
Because my eyes are still closed, do I really want to stay

My footing on the rooftop starts to slip
The tiny rolling pebbles start to fall off of the cliff
Its too steep to see them land face down on the strip
But I open my eyes and
Drip drip drip

I'm on my rooftop
Thank goodness that its a small drop
Because I don't want to think about
What it'd be like if I fall off

Instead I crack a soda
With my shaking hands
So the sweetness of the drink
Distracts me from losing my stance on the rooftop
