"Hhhh... That Herobrine kid, completely abusing his power over others." Null's voice dipped into anger. You watched as his fists tensed. "Tell me. Did you even come here by choice?"
"..No... He threatened me."
"He WHAT!?!" The outburst made you jump back. "Boy do I have some words for that kid! The absolute neglect of-! *deep inhale* .... *deep exhale* ...Sorry about that." He turned again to you. "I thought I could expect better from him... Clearly not. We'll have all of this sorted out soon enough. Until then.. please.. rest as you wish. I will go out hunting when night comes. Is there anything you would like in particular?"
This man seemed... a lot nicer and genuine. Maybe..you could trust that he wouldn't poison your food...
"Ummm... Is there.. stew in Minecraft?"
"Not for the players, but for us, yes. We are allowed to make whatever with the resources we can find." The shadow's white eyes were somehow able to express a smile through them alone. That, you couldn't help but smile back at.
"Well, I know how to make stew, so you can just give me the needed potatoes, carrots, and beef to cook it." You suddenly liked the idea of feeling the warm stew entering your stomach. The idea by itself made your stomach anxious.
"Oh, no need. I can cook it for you. You just get some sleep. The sun will be officially down soon, so i'll be able to leave the caves."
"Why can't you leave in the day?" You ask.
"Hhhhh... Notch and I.... don't have the fondest history. Before he sold The Domain to Microsoft, he managed to strip nearly all the power I had from me. I haven't been able to wander under the sun's rays for quite some time now.."
"Wow.. i'm... sorry to hear that. What could you have done to deserve that?"
"Oop! The sun just went down." Null said, instead of answering your question. Then, he suddenly vanishes before your very eyes, leaving you alone in the cave to rest. After about an hour, the solid shadow returns with a pot full of stew. Good thing too, because you are starved! As you scorf down bowl after bowl of stew, Null tells you about all the new things added to the "game" since you last played, which is pretty much everything! When you last played, the Nether had just been added! There was so much now, and it was even crazier with the thought that now you might see these new things face-to-face. Out of all the new monsters, phantoms were probably the ones you least wanted to see. Good thing you had slept recently.
After some time, your stomach finally satisfied, you felt at a level of ease as you slipped back into a deep sleep. Null sat silently on the other side of the cave tunnel, watching out for any monsters that might attack you in your sleep. As crazy as it sounded, you could finally say you trusted someone...that someone being a living shadow.
"Hmmh... Sleep tight, (Y/n)..." Null whispered after some silence. "...As for Herobrine..." The shadow, seeing nor hearing no threats nearby, rested its head against the stone, falling into a semi-sleep.
----------------------------
Herobrine had just fallen asleep. Finally, after two nights straight of guilt keeping him awake, he rested his head on his pillow in relaxation, slipping into a dream right away.
He realized it was a dream right away, signaling to him that this wouldn't be a normal one. Nothing but darkness was around him. Stone rested beneath his now sitting form. Herobrine stood. His glowing eyes didn't help divide the darkness at all. It was almost as if there were no real shadows to divide.
-shig!
A sword with a pure black, glossy surface, easily dug into the stone in front of the man. Pure white diamonds decorated the both sides of the end of the blade's handle, and a silver lining swirled its way down from the sharp blade.
"-Null!... Is something wrong?.. D-do you need help?"
"The only thing wrong here is you." As that was spoken, a hand parted from the darkness to grip the sword's handle. Herobrine stepped back, confused.
"Me?! I- I- what do you mean?"
"You know what you did." Two white eyes appeared just above Herobrine's own eye level, and the blade was pulled from the stone. "I thought I taught you well, but clearly not! You aren't to interact with the humans beyond the screen. What part of this did you not understand?!"
"Hey!" Refusing to back down from an argument with this walking shadow, Herobrine stood tall, unafraid. This was his own dream, afterall. The only thing Null could do was manipulate them. "You know why I had to! I couldn't just let them-"
"Who, some kid? Get your priorities straight; stop fighting with random hackers, it will only get yourself killed!" The solid shadow stepped out further, pointing his blade in the general direction of Herobrine. A grimace appeared on the younger man's face as he stared at the weapon aiming at his chest. Null looked down at the motion with regret, a little too late.
"Heh.." Herobrine huffed, a sarcastic smile rising. "And I was trying to protect you.."
"Wait, Steve, I-" Null threw the sword to the ground, but it was too late for that.
"No... it's good that I saw this. I finally see what your priorities are... And it sure as He## isn't me.."
"You are misinterpretating my actions! You know that!"
"No. You are misinterpretating mine.... Wake up, Null... It's morning."
Both men jumped from their still sleep at the same time. Null unsure of what he should do next. Herobrine knowing exactly what he should do next.
Sure enough, it was morning.
