Melancholy

The Man

Astaroth has had moments where the trees sway around her and she almost lifts off of the ground, making her sight fade. Each time this happens, it's in that exact spot in the woods where there's this bush with some sort of berry on it, she never knew what it was. Whenever her eyes would start tearing up, she would be back on the ground, like nothing happened.

She lay there on the dirt and leaves for a while, looking up at the trees. The sun started to set, and the sky began to grow darker, as well as everything around her.

Astaroth stood up and began to walk home in hope that she didn't miss dinner. She only made it a few steps when she saw a tall, black haired, beautiful man walking towards her way, looking at the ground. He didn't seem to notice her until she walked right past him.

"Wait..." the man said after her. She turned around and gave a confused look back at him.

"Yeah?"

"Sorry, it's just that I've never seen anyone in this deep in the woods, especially this part." The man said surprised.

"Oh, me neither to be honest. I usually go back to where that weird berry bush grows, something just draws me to it." Astaroth said with a little bit of a laugh.

The man looked shocked for some reason. Like he'd just seen a ghost.

She got creeped out when he didn't say anything and just stood there, starring at her.

"Well, I should get going now, it was nice m-"
she said until he cut her off.

"Wait, sorry, it's just that I go to that same bush a lot too. It's so hidden, I just think it's weird that we both visit it..." he said suddenly. "...anyways, what's your name?"

"Oh, it's Astaroth, but I really should be going now"

"Ok, well, I hope to see you again Astaroth." And with that, she walked home. She then realized that she gave her name to a complete stranger and she doesn't even know his name.
