"Demilade, I know. But you are different. You are not him. He might be your father but you are a better person than him." Lola tried to convince him, speaking calmly.
"I don't care. You of all people should understand me Tiwalola. You should." He said, pained.
"And I do."
He shakes his head in disagreement. "No, you don't. '
"I do, Demilade. I really do. I understand what it means not to have a particular parent when you needed them." Which was the truth.
"Oh really?" He sneered. "You talking about understanding and you refused to talk to your mother for more than two years. Or is that the reason why you never gave your brother permission to? And you're telling me about understanding. Cut the crap, Lola." He said coldly.
His voice now holds more venom than before.
Lola held back the tears that threatened to fall. She sniffled and looked away and tried to calm herself. She was sincerely hurt by his words. She didn't believe he will bring up the topic of her own mother and rub it on her face.
He continued. "Tell me, Lola, is that what you understand? At least your own mother did come back for you after she left you. She cared and still wants a chance in your life. But you are still hurt by her leaving. At least she left and came back. But this man... the man who calls himself my father.... he never did acknowledge my existence. He didn't acknowledge me. He used my mother for a fucking bet. I didn't even have the chance to call Dad. I grew hungry in poverty while my fucking dad grow more richer by the day. He grew from being a mere lawyer to the supreme high court judge. His legitimate children have it all. They had a father and a good life. And I? .... Just because my mother was not from a first-class family, she was never worth loving. She was considered a whore. And you are talking about forgiveness. Fuck that crap. It's never going to happen."
"You don't have to put my mother in this Demmy," Lola said calmly. Although she was hurt but she understands he is angry. So she doesn't have to quench fire with fire. "I know what you went through is nothing compared to mine. I know that. But I went through something similar. And despite that, I still forgive my mother. I do."
"Well then, I'm sorry. I'm not you Lola. That is not happening with me." He told her between clenched teeth.
"Demmy...."
He cut her off. "We've had enough discussion about Lawrence Ninalowo for today." He said rudely. Then he picked up his tab.
"Demmy...." She was still about to say something when he glared at her. And it almost stopped whatever she wanted to say. "Demilade, I'm..."
"Don't push it, Tiwalola." He said with a warning tone and he walked away from her presence.
Lola heaved a sigh and wiped the lone tear that fell down her eyes. She fell back on the sofa defeatedly. And she remembered Demilade words. She would be lying if she said his words didn't hurt because there do.
But she knew he was mad. And that was the intensity of his hatred toward his father.
She let it slide since she understood he was furious and he had said those words in a heated period. What really matters is what she had to accomplish.
She can see how cold and mean Demilade can be because of the topic. And his friend was right. It is toxic to him. She knew it is hard to heal a scar that can't be seen but she still have to try.
Demilade had been holding onto all the anger and pain for a very long time. He had been pretending he was fine. Just like her, he had believed he don't need his father but the truth was he did. He did want a father. He wanted a father model. Someone to love him and love his mother. And knowing that his father never love him and even hurt his favorite person in the world pained him. It scarred him.
But it is time he let it all go. She knew it was going to be very very hard to change Demilade mind. But they can't give up. It's for his own good.
Now she understands what Bayo and his mother are going through to convince him.
But she hoped he understood why they wanted him to forgive him. It's been long enough. It's about time that he let go of all those anger and hatred. He wasn't going to gain anything from it. She knew it was not easy doing after all the man has done but he had to try.

Yeah, that's the word count for this chapter without the quote and author notes. Wow😀😀😀 I'm so proud of myself. I have been meaning to write a chapter with 6k words and I finally did it.
Hope it is not too long. You should not be angry o.
I'm not supposed to even update this chapter today. It's supposed to be standalone but... Because I didn't get to update the second chapter on Wednesday so I am giving this one to apologize.
If you aren't a fan of a long chapter, e ma binu o. Don't be angry. And if you like long chapters... I hope you enjoyed it. I didn't want to divide this chapter at all. It's one of the chapters that I put in my best. It is almost totally different from the first hard copy I wrote down.
I just needed to explain Demilade pain and side of the story. As I said before, this book is mainly for him. And if you have read my other books, you should know by now that I don't leave loopholes in my stories. I make sure everything is covered. I like giving details of my characters and their stories. And this is one of them.
So our couples are having their first fight o. Aunty Lola had touched the wrong thing. If you are expecting lovey-dovey in the next chapter. I'm sorry to spoil your bubbles.
Anyway, let me not talk too much. Anticipate the next chapter. Until then beauties. Have a lovely weekend.
But don't forget to tap that star below. It's very important.
Thanks for the 14k reads on this book. God bless you all.
Bye.
