Chapter 28

"Do you need anything?"

I went near her. I don't know why the fuck will she suddenly appeared in our firm. It's been so long. I can't remember how many years passed since I last saw her. 4? 5? I lost my count because I already forgot her. She doesn't matter to me... to us anymore.

"Just wanna tell you to enjoy your relationship with Steve while it lasts." she smirked.

I raised one of my eyebrows. "What do you mean?"

"Nothing, dear. Goodluck." she gave me a fake smile before leaving the conference room.

What did just happen? Did she just waste my time?

I straightly went to Lian's bake shop after work. Ang laki na ng improvement ng bake shop niya.

"Lian!" pagtawag ko nang makapasok na ako sa office niya.

"Attorney!" she called me. I jokingly rolled my eyes at her.

"Miss kita!" I sat on the chair in front of her table.

"Corny mo!" she replied while doing something.

"E 'di 'wag."

Napalingon siya sa akin. "Arte mo!"

"Dapat yata hindi na ako pumunta!" I crossed my arms and rested my back on the backrest of my seat.

She closed her laptop and looked at me. "Bakit ka ba dumayo rito?"

"Ano bang dumayo! Ang lapit nito sa 'min!"

"Bakit ka nga nandito?"

"Seryosong namiss lang kita." I smiled sadly.

"Problema?" she raised her brow.

"Wala naman, miss lang kita."

Parang hindi siya convinced dahil tumayo siya at hinila ako papunta sa kitchen. Bumati siya sa isang chef na nagb'bake rito at kumuha ng cupcake na nasa table. Niyakap niya ako nang mahigpit bago ako binigyan ng cupcake.

"Sabihin mo lang kapag 'di mo na kaya." she said while handing me the cupcake.

"Thank you." I replied sincerely.

When I went home, I sat on the couch to think. I don't want want to be bothered with Bella's words but I can't help it.

Maya-maya lang ay bumukas na 'yung pinto. I immediately stood up, I want to hug Steve, I want to tell him that I'm having a death threats. I want to tell him that Bella came into my office. I want to tell him everything. I miss him. I miss us. Hindi 'yung ganito na halos hindi na kami nag-aabot sa condo. Parang parehas kaming may nililihim sa isa't isa.

"Love," I ran to him when I saw him opening our door. I was about to hug him but he immediately went to our room.

"Pagod ako, love." he's now changing his clothes. I am standing on our doorway.

Pagod din ako, Steve.

Kaya nga kita kailangan dahil pagod ako. Sa 'yo lang ako nakakaramdam ng pahinga.

"Pahinga ka na, love." I smiled at him before going back to the couch. When I looked at my phone, there's another message from unknown number.

From: Unknown Number
Mag-ingat ka sa pagtulog mo, baka hindi ka na magising. :)

Halos mabitawan ko 'yung cellphone ko. My knees trembled. Napaupo ako kaagad sa couch namin. I shouldn't think about it, right? It's part of the job.

Days passed. Kung hindi ako 'yung mal'late umuwi, si Steve. Minsan kasi kailangan ko talagang gabihin dahil malapit na 'yung pre-trial ng murder case ni Pineda.
