"Beta, The Alpha has requested your presence in his study" a wolf said to me in a shaky voice and I nodded my head.
"You can go, I'll be right there" I said and she immediately sprinted away. I turned towards the wolves that I was training and sighed, I don't want to cut off the training but then
"Attention!" They immediately halted and turned towards me "our training will have to be cut short today, but I expect you all to be here on time tomorrow. Am I clear?"
"Yes Beta" I smiled and walked off, heading straight to Derick's study.
I stared at him in shock as soon as he told me the reason he called me "What do you mean by she's coming here?" I asked my Alpha; Derick, quietly and he sighed.
"I got a call from her father, she's already on her way here and maybe if you tried to keep up with the news, you would have seen the article" Alpha Derick said slyly. Heaven help me if he has a hand in her coming to this place.
"What article? Did you even ask me if I'm okay with this?" He looked at me and shook his head.
"I'm your Alpha, Drystan, I don't think I need your permission for anything." He said strictly in his Alpha voice. If it was anyone else, that voice would have affected them but, it doesn't work on me.
"But this is about my personal.." he raised his hand cutting off my whining
"Enough Drystan, I don't want to hear it. Go home and prepare a room for her" he said and I opened my mouth to talk but, the look on his face shut me up.
"Yes Alpha" I said with clenched teeth,he knows why I don't want a mate, so why is he doing this to me?! I spared him one last glance and walked out of his study, angrily.
I placed my hand on my head and patted it softly as soon as I walked off, whipping out my phone in the process and searched the latest articles on world news, and unsurprisingly hers ranked 5th.
"The fucking nerve" I muttered angrily as I read through the article "what's wrong with that thick headed wolf?"
"Judging her already?" Ace said in a singsong voice, teasing me and adding to my annoyance. He is my second wolf; and the silliest of all 5, he never takes anything serious and gets on my nerves all the fucking time.
"Shut the fuck up" I muttered and put up a wall between us.
"I think you should take it easy with her Drystan, she's your mate after all. You aren't meant to treat her like that" Asher said quietly and thoughtfully; he is my favorite wolf of them all and, that's because he is the logical and calm one of them all. He is like that voice at the back of your mind, telling you the right things to do
"I know that Asher, but you know why I'm doing this" I said quietly, that made him shut up and recline to the back of my mind.
I sighed and continued my walk home in peace. Unlike other packs and betas, I don't stay in the pack house with everyone else, I stay in my own apartment 10 minutes away from the pack house.
The alpha gave me my own apartment because majority of the wolves are scared of me, I am the only werewolf to have 5 wolves and that's enough reason for them to be scared of me. Plus, the alpha doesn't need someone with the same aura and power as him in the same place, it'll lead to a conflict for sure.
"I wonder if she'll be scared of us"* Daniel; the loving and considerate of them all said and I sighed, standing in front of my door
"Let's not worry about that now Daniel. I'd rather concentrate on finding a way to send her back" I said and unlocked my door stepping in.
"The only way to do that is to reject her, I'm sure you don't want that. I believe it's time for you to let the past be in the past" Asher said calmly and I just blocked them all out.
I walked into the apartment and headed straight to the last room, there are only three rooms in the apartment and I'll rather have her stay at the last one. I opened the door and inspected the room, everything is in order. I walked into the bathroom and it also looks good as new, no one has ever used it anyway and I always keep them dust free.
"There's nothing to prepare" I muttered and walked into my room and laid down on my bed, my mind wandering to the very day I never want to relieve.
Ever since that day, all I prayed for was that the moon goddess doesn't give me a mate and after years passed, I honestly thought that I didn't have any mate but just that one dinner party, that one dinner party changed my life. Now, I have to live every single day of my life protecting her from myself.
"Talk about having a shitty fate" my phone rang loudly, breaking me out of my pity party "Beta Drystan speaking" I said as I picked up the phone.
"Drystan, it's Alpha Reid speaking" I sat up on the bed quickly, wondering what will make him call me when I just left the pack house, 30 minutes ago
"Yes?"
"Your mate just arrived at the airport, I'll need you to go pick her up" he said and I slouched
"Sure thing" I said and cut the call, picking up my car keys "if there is a way to cancel this mating thing I will"
"You can just reject her and have the mating bond cancelled" Brutus; my fifth wolf said and I blocked him out.
