His eyes were wide, glued to the screen as colors of grey and blue danced across. The scene switched, floors painted with blood, warm and sickening blood. A somber voice rang over the visuals, describing the severity of the crime. The display came to a halt as the tv was abruptly turned off. The bed creaked, pairs of eyes meeting one another. The male in the bed through back his covers, huffing out of annoyance. He ran his fingers through his tousled and cheaply dyed blonde hair.
"I can hear the tv all the way from my room, could you turn it down or just go to bed already? It's like 2 am," Sakusa said, his voice a raspy and cold.
Sakusa stood in the doorway, comforter wrapped around his shoulders, in his hand was the remote for Atsumu's tv. Sakusa had come into the room and grabbed it off the shelf all the while Atsumu was engulfed in his show. He tossed the remote onto the bed.
"Oh you found my remote! I thought I lost it in the covers," Atsumu smiled and turned the tv back on. Sakusa rolled his eyes, turning and walking out.
The voices of the dramatized reenactments followed Sakusa into the hallway, plush carpet against his feet. He walked back into his own room just as the closing theme song for Atsumu's show began. Sakusa heard a soft click as he closed the door behind him and made his way to his bed, the mattress was still warm.
The alarm clock pierced Sakusa's ears, his train of thought derailing. He hit the alarm clock to silence its beeping and rolled over onto his side. Sunlight barely trickled in from his curtains. Sakusa pulled the covers away slowly, the cold welcoming his skin and giving him goosebumps. He reached over for his cup of water and phone, scrolling through several social media apps before putting it back down. Standing up, Sakusa milled around the room, making his bed. The dark haired male walked out of his bedroom and down the hall to the kitchen. The news channel was on and playing softly. At the island was Atsumu, shoveling froot loops into his mouth.
"Good morning!" Atsumu chirped, putting his spoon down to rest in his bowl. "Did ya sleep well?"
Sakusa shrugged, turning to the cabinet to scour for something to eat. "I would have," He paused. "If someone wasn't so loud all the time."
Atsumu went back to eating, mumbling an apology between mouth fulls of cereal. "I'm sorry, it was just a new episode and oh my god was it amazing! You would've liked it, the guy was like a security guard and was missing for a few days and-"
Sakusa sat down the box of cereal he was holding rather loudly. He turned to Atsumu and raised his eyebrows, "I.. would have loved it? You must know me just sooo well." He shook his head, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "I don't even understand why you watch that stuff."
Sakusa prepared for a whole new explanation, pouring his milk into his bowl. He poured in the cereal next, joining Atsumu at the kitchen island.
"Well you know in like.. when bad things are going, on you can't help but watch. Like maybe a fight or a car accident? Like I know you shouldn't stare but you just get super curious. I guess that's why I watch my shows and don't pretend I'm the only one who likes this stuff," He grabbed his bowl and began to drink the milk.
"I know you're not the only one but you're the only one I live with so, maybe tone it down? At least when I'm here?" Sakusa only got a few bites in before checking the time again. "Shit, I have work." Sakusa disposed of his leftovers and hurried off to get ready.
Atsumu sat his bowl back down onto the counter, watching Sakusa leave from the corner of his eye. Atsumu turned his attention to the tv, perched on the marble countertop. The reporter stood in front of a developing crime scene, forensics working in the background. Atsumu leaned forward. He needed to tone it down? To hide it? That wouldn't be too much of an issue for him. He already hid so much from Sakusa.
