Chapter 14 - Rescue

We got the entire Gryffindor table loudly singing happy Birthday to Sirius and he grinned when I brought out the cake "Y/n you're amazing." He smiled "thank you."

Suddenly, Reg stormed up to our table looking angry. Oh god this couldn't be good. "joyeux anniversaire idiot tu me manques!" He yelled at Sirius. I realized he was talking in French, so he could actually talk to his brother.

Sirius allowed a smirk for a quick second before yelling back "Tu me manques trop reggie énervé" Everyone was a little shocked by the scene, anyone who didn't know them like I did.

Sirius and Regulus had been forced to take language lessons when they were younger. Sirius was fluent in French, Spanish, Latin, Italian and German. I could only assume Reg was the same.

"What did he say?" James asked sensing it wasn't a real argument.

"He said happy birthday and he misses me. So I told Edgy Reggie I missed him too." Sirius grinned and he was practically whispering except Sirius couldn't whisper. He always got told he was being too loud in class when he was whispering.

I smiled over at Reg, there would be major consequences if he even showed any hint of getting on with us but he still did little things like this.

We walked back to the common room happy, Sirius had one arm around my shoulder and one around James's. Despite everything, I couldn't help but smile and laugh with them. I really didn't deserve my friends they were the best people ever, I wouldn't say this and be all soppy but I really thought it.

"Amortentia. Can anyone tell me what they already know about it?" Slughorn addressed the class. There was a small vial of pink liquid he was holding and he uncapped it, I was basically drawn to it as a lot of other people seemed to be.

Lily put her hand up "It's a love potion, Sir, you can't create actual love but it will cause obsession."

"Perfect, Miss Evans 10 points to Gryffindor." Slughorn beamed. "It smells of whatever the person desires the most, now can anyone tell me what they smell?" He asked looking at the class, no one wanted to expose themselves "Mr Black perhaps?"

Sirius sniffed the glass bottle "Books, chocolate, clean sweaters- and uh cake." He had smelled Remus. All those things basically described Remus and the last one was a cover up. Remus seemed to know this too, he avoided eye contact blushing deeply.

"Interesting, Miss Potter?" Slughorn looked over to me. I smelled the bottle "Um, expensive cologne... Pine needles...cigarette smoke and um parchment." Again, the last one was a cover up.

Fuck, I thought, my amortentia smelled of Regulus Black.

It was time for another study session with Regulus, he was stood in the library reading a book. I held the bottle of Amortentia as it's what we were studying. "Alright Edgy Reggie?" I grinned while setting my books down. I had no intention of telling him what I smelled in the bottle of course.

"Don't call me that!" He protested but there was a fond smile on his lips as he nudged me playfully. I accidentally spilled some of the potion over the desk. My eyes widened as I tried to clean it with my sleeve. He sniffed and looked at me "why have you sprayed so much of your perfume- it's really strong."

Surely that was a coincidence.

And soon enough, Saturday. The day I had agreed to go on a date with Gilderoy. I brushed my hair through and put on a black denim skirt with a jumper, which actually belonged to Remus but they were so comfy and soft. I also had patterned tights and some doc Martens. It was well and truly autumn, drawing onto winter now so it was starting to get more chilly.

I met Gilderoy in the courtyard, he did look handsome I had to admit. He had a nice shirt on and nice trousers with a classy coat but part of me couldn't help but wish it was Regulus instead. I needed to stop thinking of that. "Hello y/n, you look gorgeous." He smiled and held out his arm for me to take as we walked down to the village.

Hogsmede village was always pretty I liked how old fashioned it was, and the sweet shop was just brilliant. The cobbled streets were scattered with orange and brown leaves and the warm light glowed through each and every window. It would have been nicer if I didn't hear Lockheart whitter on about himself the whole time. We got a table in the three broomsticks and he ordered two butter beers. I smiled and nodded politely while he told me what an extraordinary quidditch player he was. Even though, as I recall, we had beat Ravenclaw last year. I saw, in the corner, the marauders in a table spying on us trying to casually hide behind a menu but Sirus's dark curls poking out the top, and Peter peering around the side gave it away.

Honestly it seemed they were spying on me a lot these days. I applied some chapstick so the cold wouldn't crack my lips and he looked at me with a smirk "what flavor?" He asked.

I glanced at the boys then back at Gilderoy "here come find out." I smirked and pulled him into a kiss. He wasn't nearly as good a kisser as Regulus. He was good sure but there was no feeling to it, at least from my part. Sirius dramatically covered Peter's eyes and James put his head on Remus's shoulder pretending to weep. He just shook his head apologetically.

I pulled away and smirked a little. "Cheeky minx you are." He grinned and I felt the butter beer and cookies in my belly attempt to come back up. "you know I happen to have..." And he went off again on and on about himself.

It must have been 10 minutes and my butter beer was drained, so was my energy from listening to him. James got up and walked to my table "y/n! I just got a letter from mum, the dogs died." He sighed.

We don't have a- oh. Right.

I pretended to look upset for my imaginary dead dog "Oh no. I'm so sorry Gilderoy I simply must go write to my mother." I pretended to sniff back tears "See you around."

James and I briskly walked out and the boys soon followed "You saved me," I chuckled "he was just telling me how he's professor Flitwicks favorite." I rolled my eyes as we walked back to the castle.

"Well I told you." Sirius shrugged "Remus said you should learn for yourself."

"He's got cool hair though." Peter smiled a little.

"I just had to watch you kiss Gilderoy I'm going to drown myself in the lake." James said dramatically. The lake. I looked over to the lake as we walked past and there was Regulus by our spot.

There was something I needed to do. "I'll see you boys later I'm gonna do something real quick." I said and walked towards my hidden secret spot but the long way so I was less trackalble.

I needed to see Regulus.
