KAYNE: Building blocks?
LEE: Yes. Sort of. Not exactly. Let's say you need to cross a lake that's frozen over. You wouldn't want to use the melting device, because it would melt the ice and you would fall through.
KAYNE: Obviously.
LEE: So I made these.
Lee presses the green button on one of the rectangles and it unfolds into a long tank tread with spikes on it. Kayne looks surprised and takes a small step back.
LEE: Boom. Spiked tracks for better grip on ice. To save you time here, I left a recording on how to use them on the watch I gave you. Just in case I was late again.
KAYNE: Planning ahead. You're learning.
Lee shrugs.
LEE: Meh. Any questions?
KAYNE: Just one. How old are you again?
LEE: (grins) 17 and counting.
Lee puts the box back under the desk.
LEE: Well, that's all I got for ya.
Lee hands Kayne a small bag for the devices and Kayne starts putting them inside.
KAYNE: (nods to Lee) Thank you. I'll see you when I get back.
Kayne checks her watch as she walks out of the lab. Lee watches her go, then sighs in relief once Kayne is out of sight.
CUT TO:
INT. DIRECTOR HAYES' OFFICE - CONTINUOUS
Maxine is waiting for Hayes in his office. She is leaning against the wall, reading the files in her hands, then looks up as she hears footsteps. She closes the file and stands up straight as Hayes walks in and shuts the door behind him. He walks past Maxine, towards his desk.
HAYES: Alright, what do we have on Markovetz's location?
Maxine shakes her head as she places a file on Hayes' desk.
MAXINE: Not much.
Hayes opens the file and looks through some pictures that are not the best quality. He sighs as he sees the quality and lays them out on his desk, looking over each one.
HAYES: Is this really all we have to go off of?
MAXINE: Barr wasn't able to get much, like I said. He almost got caught, but as always, Woods was there to save his ass.
HAYES: Barr is a good agent. He just needs to focus more. What was he able to gather?
MAXINE: Well, he said he saw an agent from The Council talking on a payphone at the mall.
HAYES: Which means...?
MAXINE: Sir, no one uses payphones anymore. Unless it's for a drug deal.
