FM Pilot Script: Part One

Pilot Script Part One (newest draft as of 5/8/21)

DEX: It just seems unwise to send us on a live mission without some kind of training beforehand. And, I'm not trying to pry, but I know that Roth and Parks are supposed to be on that mission tomorrow. This seems very short notice.

Hayes sighs and rubs the bridge between his eyes.

HAYES: Alright, look. Their usual tech team bailed and you two are the only team free. I thought that you two could try something new for once.

Lee crosses her arms and leans back in her chair.

LEE: After two years?

HAYES: Yes. I've been watching you two get your assignments and reports in weeks before their due dates, then spending the rest of your time goofing off and setting things on fire.

LEE: That was one time!

DEX: Lee, it was Bakes' head! It doesn't matter if it was just once!

LEE: Hey, he lived, didn't he?!

HAYES: Kids!

Dex and Lee stop bickering. Hayes looks at them for a few moments. [Oliver is gone]

HAYES: You two need something else to do. Fischer, there are several inventions of yours that could use some tweaking.

Lee looks down. Hayes shifts his gaze from Lee to Dex.

HAYES: And Grant. (sigh) Honestly I don't know what for you because you are on top of everything. So just... make sure Lee doesn't blow anything up.

DEX: (muttering) That's a hard enough job as it is.

LEE: I can hear you.

DEX: I'm aware.

HAYES: (annoyed) If you two are done...

Dex and Lee nod.

HAYES: Roth and Parks are planning to meet up for the mission tonight at 6. They will meet you in your lab, understand?

DEX/LEE: Yessir.

HAYES: Good. Any other questions? Or clarifications? No complaints.

Hayes shoots Lee a look and she rolls her eyes.

DEX/LEE: (sighing) No sir.

Dex stands up as Lee picks up her mug.

DEX: (to Hayes) Is that all?

Hayes nods.

DEX: Alright, then I am going to go pick up my coding report for the week..

LEE: Oh, hey, if you see Marion can you tell her I finished fixing her laser pen?

DEX: Yes.

Hayes lets Dex pass him, but doesn't leave.
