CUT TO:

INT. LOBBY OF THE V.I.U. - MOMENTS LATER

HAYES is walking through the lobby of the V.I.U. He nods to agents as he passes, who all nod back.

Hayes walks over to Dex and Lee's office and leans against the door frame with his arms crossed.

DEX: Hey, could you print off my weekly coding report for me?

LEE: Yeah, normal format?

DEX: Yes please.

LEE: You got it.

HAYES (O.S): Fischer. Grant.

Lee looks up as Dex jerks in surprise and bangs his head on the edge of his desk. Lee winces as Dex looks up, rubbing his head.

LEE: Ooh, you okay man?

DEX: (sarcastic) Brilliant.

HAYES: I need you two to get ready for a mission.

DEX/LEE: Pardon?/What?!

HAYES: Is there a problem?

DEX/LEE: No./Yes.

Dex and Lee glance at each other. Dex gives Lee a "stop talking" look as he stands up and sits down in his chair, Lee ignores him.

HAYES: What's the problem?

LEE: Uh, the fact that you want two, extremely inexperienced tech kids to go on a mission?

DEX: Lee-

HAYES: You two have to start somewhere. Every tech agent here has been on a mission, except for you two.

DEX: Can I-?

LEE: We're still underaged!

DEX: May I-

HAYES: The mission has absolutely no chance of either of you being put in harm's way. All you have to do is stay in the van and survey Roth and Parks while they run their mission.

DEX: Guys!

Lee and Hayes look over at Dex.

HAYES/LEE: (annoyed) What?

DEX: Can I speak please?

HAYES: You may.

DEX: Right. I think what Lee is just trying to say is that we've never been on a mission before. Sending two inexperienced tech agents on a mission doesn't seem like the smartest choice sir, no offense. We haven't even done the training simulation yet.

OLIVER appears leaning against the wall.

OLIVER: You're not missing much. It wasn't very effective when I did it. Though I guess I did the field agent simulation, not the tech agent one so I don't know how different it'd be...

Hayes folds his arms.

HAYES: So what are you attempting to say?
