Pilot Script Part One (newest draft as of 5/8/21)

Start from the beginning

DEX: But don't forget who won poker today.

Lee sticks her tongue out at Dex for a second.

BAKES (O.S): Who's winning?

Lee looks up and Dex turns around in his chair so that they can both see Bakes, Archer, and Markus standing in the doorway.

DEX: (quietly) Bollocks.

Lee stands up.

LEE: (cold) What do you want Bakes?

BAKES: That seemed a little fierce Fischer. Almost like you don't like me.

LEE: Damn right I don't.

BAKES: Well that's news to me.

DEX: (warning) Lee.

Lee's eyes flash brown and she pauses. She blinks a few times and continues as if nothing happened.

LEE: (ignoring Dex) No it's not.

DEX: (to Bakes) Please, just tell us what you want so we can avoid conflict.

ARCHER: What if we want conflict?

DEX: (to himself) Of course you'd want it.

Oliver appears next to Dex, crossing his arms and looking concerned.

OLIVER: Why do they start a fight every time they see you two?

DEX: (to Oliver) I don't know, but I'm getting sick of it.

Lee looks at Dex and they share a knowing look. Then Lee looks up at Bakes again.

LEE: I don't think you want Maxine to kick your ass again like the last time you tried to punk us.

BAKES: But you don't have your agent buddies to hide behind tonight.

LEE: Who the hell says we're hiding?

OLIVER: (to Dex) Ask her why they're so childish.

DEX: (to Lee) Why are they so childish?

LEE: Don't know, don't care. (to Bakes) Get out of our lab!

Bakes walks forward until he is right in front of Lee. They glare at each other for a moment, Dex watching with worry, Archer and Markus watching with interest.

BAKES: (quiet but threatening) You're not your dad, kid.

Jaiden appears next to Lee, looking at Bakes with a raised eyebrow.

JAIDEN: Did he just feel like pushing that button today?

LEE: (to Bakes) Who said I was, asshole?

BAKES: It's obvious. You act like you can tell anyone what to do and they'll do it, but you're just making a sorry attempt to live up to whatever reputation you think your dad had. But you never have, and you never will.
