FM Pilot Script: Part One

Pilot Script Part One (newest draft as of 5/8/21)

HAYES: I know how smart you two can be, so please, if you see something suspicious, call it in. Council agents will not hesitate to kill you, they don't care who you are or how old you are. Understand?

Dex nods reluctantly, but Lee doesn't.

HAYES: Fischer?

Lee hesitates, then nods. There is silence as Hayes leaves with Dex and Lee watching him. Once he is gone, Dex sighs as Lee kicks a smallish device lying on the ground. Maxine looks over at the device as it sparks up and dies.

MAXINE: Was that important?

LEE: No. Dammit!

MAXINE: What?

DEX: (tired) I believe she was planning on binge watching Parks and Rec tonight.

MAXINE: Really? What season are you on?

LEE: Three...

MAXINE: Only three? Didn't you start last year?

LEE: I've uh... been watching NCIS...

DEX: That's a lie. She's been re-watching her favorite Hailee Steinfeld movies.

MAXINE: Why?

DEX: (smug) Lee has a crush on her.

LEE: (defensive) I- You know what? Yeah, I do. And I shouldn't have to defend myself on that.

Maxine stares at Lee in disbelief as Lee picks up a small gear from her table and starts to play with it.

MAXINE: (shaking her head) Besides that, why are you so salty about this? Everyone has to stay late at some point. And it's not like you guys don't stay up all night half the time.

LEE: That's besides the point. Do you know who is on the night shift this week?

MAXINE: Let me guess.

DEX/LEE/MAXINE: Bakes.

DEX: And his whole crew of merry men.

LEE/DEX: And Archer.

MAXINE: You guys are still on bad terms?

DEX: We were always on bad terms.

LEE: We will never, NEVER, be on good terms with those pricks.

Maxine shakes her head and her phone dings. She takes her phone out and looks at it.

MAXINE: Well, sorry you two. I'm gonna have to cancel lunch. My brother needs me. I'll see you guys tomorrow.

LEE: Sure. Tell Nick hi for us.

Maxine gives Lee a thumbs up as she leaves the lab. Before she leaves completely, she pokes her head back into the lab.

MAXINE: This place is a mess by the way.

Lee tosses the small gear at Dex, who catches it and throws it at Maxine, who is already gone. Lee crosses her arms, pouting.
