MAXINE: That was... the harshest tough love I've seen in a while.

LEE: I'm sure it surprised no one that emotions aren't my domain in the slightest. But yelling at people is.

MAXINE: I didn't know you were capable of giving good advice. Or being sympathetic.

LEE: Yeah, it won't last long, trust me. If he starts panicking again I'm gonna chloroform him until we find Markovetz so he doesn't drive himself crazy.

DEX: That's not very lady-like.

Lee takes a small gear from the floor and throws it at Dex, which hits him in the shoulder. Dex rubs his shoulder and looks at Lee with a fake hurt expression.

LEE: Call me lady again and I'll bust your nose.

DEX: Goodness, aggressive today, aren't we?

Lee flips Dex off and he grins smugly back at her. Then he perks up and looks over at Maxine.

DEX: Ah by the way... our bet...?

Maxine sighs and takes a five dollar bill out of her pocket. She hands it to Dex, who grins and puts it in his pocket.

DEX: (to Lee) So... what are your thoughts on what Hayes ordered earlier?

LEE: I spoke my mind, you heard me.

MAXINE: What'd I miss?

DEX: Hayes paid us a visit earlier. It wasn't the greatest news.

LEE: Hayes said, and I quote, (impersonates Hayes) "I need you and Grant to get ready for a mission."

MAXINE: That was more of a Mufasa impression than Hayes...

Lee now flips Maxine off, who sticks her tongue out in response as Dex sits down in his swivel chair and spins around. Maxine leans back on Lee's desk, crossing her legs.

MAXINE: So, what's wrong with going on a mission? I've been on them for years and they really aren't that bad.

LEE: One, because you're used to it. We've never been on one. And two... you're an agent. So it's a little different. We haven't gone through the required training simulation or anything. We have our book smarts and that's it. Freaking science and whatever the hell Dex has.

DEX: Bio-engineering.

LEE: Right. Medical stuff.

MAXINE: Well if you guys are that worried, do you want me to help you prepare?

HAYES: No need.

Hayes appears at the door and the three turn to him.

DEX: No need? What does that mean?

HAYES: It means that there is no need for you two to do something of actual importance.

LEE: Pfft- ow.

HAYES: (sighs) While I would've preferred you two going on the mission, Holt and Raska just offered to do it, so you two are off the hook.

DEX/LEE: Yes!

HAYES: Don't get too excited. Something else came up that I need you two to do for me.
