"Your sister is worth more than any rich lady does to me. A saying says that from hate grows a strong feeling of love. I am not saying that I hate your sister but she isn't my favourite person when we met. She seems desperate and too pretty. She also reminded me of my past life in some sort of way. But as time goes on, things begin to change. She brought out the good side of me. She changes a lot in me that surprised me myself . Many times I told myself that I don't care about her and that I don't need a girlfriend. But who was I kidding? My heart?" He gave a wry laugh. "We can never tell our heart who to love. Never. I am sure you have felt something similar, if not so strongly because you are a high schooler." He saw him shrug a little because he was right.
So he continued, "No matter how I kept denying it, it keeps getting stronger. And when I finally accept it, it was a beautiful feeling. Something that I haven't felt in a very long time. All I am trying to say Daniel is... I love your sister. I really do. And I won't do anything to hurt her. So help me God. I won't. And I mean it. "
Daniel narrowed his eyes at him, watching him. Then he looked away and nodded.
"There is no reason for me to hurt her when she makes me happy. And I am a lucky man to meet someone like your sister." Demilade said and he leaned back on the chair. He can tell the boy was debating on his word whether he could believe him. But that was his decision to make. He already said his mind.
"Alright. But please don't change later," he begged.
"I don't pray to and I won't," he answered.
"Can I ask you another question?" Daniel asked.
Demilade pinched his nose and sniffed quietly. He was enjoying talking to the young man but he was exhausted and he need to sleep. He has a very long day the following day.
But he answered anyway, "okay. Last one for today."
"Yeah. How do you come up with such an awesome design? I have never seen anything like this. This mansion is magnificent!" he exclaimed. "This house is like... billions. The interior design, the pieces of furniture,.. I can't even mention it all." He chuckled to himself.
Demilade laughed. Like really laughed. And the boy turned to him. He had not expected the question either. It amazes him how the boy could change from very serious to this playful excited curious boy. Now he looks like a real nineteen-year-old.
He could see the amazement and fascination on his face. And curiosity.
He was not surprised at that. Everyone who comes into his house always feels the same way. They have the same comments to give. But he was sure they will be baffled and speechless when they see the other part of his house. Like the little attic, the underground music room and wine cellar, his library, his art gallery, not to mention the empty rooms and garage.
That had been his first dream to build a home that will leave the mouth wide open. He had grown up in a small family of himself, his mother and his grandparents until his grandfather passed away. He always dream of a big house with a big family when he was young. And he still wants a big family which is why he built a house big enough for a family of twenty and more and also put his best, energy and money into building such a house.
"As I told you, Daniel, I didn't grow up in a big house. I live in a small room with my mom and grandparents." He chuckled remembering the memories. Those bitter-sweet memories. "I didn't have the freedom that I needed. I couldn't invite my friends to my small house that I am barely comfortable in. When I was undergoing puberty, it was hell. It sucks so much. Do you know how it feels?"
Daniel grinned. "I think I can relate. Living with a bunch of girls." And they both laughed.
"Yeah. My mom still tries to give me some privacy sometimes. But my grandmother... Oh christ!.... She never. She would claim that she had seen it all and that she bathed me since I was ten seconds old. And there is nothing she had not seen in a man. So you should know that whatever I say or do doesn't matter. And since then, I made a promise to myself that my children won't have to face the same thing. And I dreamt of how it will be living in a big house like a friend of mine who had his room even as a teenager. And I promised myself a condo."
