A week of college consisted of going to classes, maybe going out in the middle of the week, going to practice, and a lot of crying over schoolwork.

If I wasn't at my apartment, I was at the gym for practice, and if I wasn't at the gym then I was at the library crying over homework.

But then Saturday came.

Saturdays during the fall meant football games.

UCLA football games were always fun, but it was extra exciting since I was on the dance team. I loved dancing at pregames, on the sidelines, and taking a lot of pictures with my fellow teammates.

My favorite part was when we got a few seconds of freedom and we could walk around tailgates.

"Sometimes I wish I didn't join the team so I could be drunk and having fun with my friends." Nia mumbled to me as stood at one of our friend's tailgates.

"I know right." I agreed with her as I looked around.

Everyone was in UCLA apparel or blue and yellow. They all looked so happy as they drank and danced around to the loud music. Meanwhile, my back was still sore from practicing all night.

Evie and Mer ran up to us as a group of girls ran behind them. They were obviously intoxicated by the way they were stumbling and the fact that they were giggling so much.

"Where are you two coming from?" I laughed as I asked them.

"Sigma Chi. It was so crowded and you could hear the bass from two blocks over." Mer giggled.

That was Beau's frat house.

"Did you see Beau?" I wondered.

She nodded her head. "He was going to a tailgate with his friends. He was a little buzzed."

"Interesting," I responded.

Oh shit.

Why is Drew walking towards me?

I subtly hit Nia's arm as he got closer.

"Hey, Nat." Drew greeted me.

Drew was tall, had curly hair, and tan skin (fellow mixed kid). We'd been going to the same school since we were in sixth grade. Drew and I dated from tenth grade until the night of senior prom.

That was a story for another day.

"Hi," I responded.

"We're gonna give you two some space." Nia looked at me and walked away with the other girls.

"I see you made the dance team like you always wanted." Drew pointed to my uniform. "How has life been treating you?"

I nodded my head slowly. "Well, it's college. I've been fine."

"I've been thinking about you," he admitted.

Oh, Lord.

"You have?" I raised an eyebrow.

"I heard you're dating that junior though. Is that true?" Drew mentioned.

"I am." I played into our lie.

"Well, I saw you two at the party together. You never know, some people just like to kiss for fun or when they're drunk." he shrugged.

"Nah, we're together for real. I needed something fresh and new. You know, after you betrayed me. It's nice to have someone honest." I folded my arms.

He smacked his lips and turned away for a moment.

"Nat, really? I thought we were over that. No other girl here compares to you." Drew said to me.
