Grace Meets The Wizard of Oz

Chapter 6

They come around a really creepy forest, making Grace a little scared

"I don't like this forest" Grace said "it's dark and creepy"

"Of course I don't know but I think it'll get darker before it gets lighter" Scarecrow said

"Do you suppose we'll meet any wild animals?" Grace asked Tin Man

"Mm, we might" Tin Man answered

"Animals that eat... s-traw?" Scarecrow said being scared

"Some, but mostly lions, and tigers, and bears" Tin Man said

"Lions?" Dorothy and Grace said

"And tigers?" Scarecrow said

"And bears" Tin Man said

"Lions, and tigers, and bears! Oh, my" Dorothy said and they kept saying that as they walk until the saw a lion roared and saw the Lion on a rock and of course Grace knows that's The Cowardly Lion, he jumped and Scarecrow and Tin Man fell down as Dorothy and Grace ran went behind a tree

The Lion stood up and said "put 'em up, put 'em up! Which one of you first? I'll fight you both together if you want. I'll fight you with one paw tied behind my back. I'll fight you standing on one foot. I'll fight you with my eyes closed"

"Ohh, pullin' an axe on me, eh?" Lion said as he went to Tin Man and then he went to Scarecrow "sneaking up on me, eh? Why, I'll... Ruff!"

"Here, here. Go away and let us alone" Tin Man said

"Oh, scared, huh? Afraid, huh? Ah, how long can you stay fresh in that can? Ha ha ha ha, come on, get up and fight, you shivering junkyard" Lion said and he goes over to the Scarecrow "put your hands up, you lopsided bag of hay!"

"Now that's getting personal, Lion" Scarecrow said

"Yes. Get up and teach him a lesson" Tin Man said

"Well, what's wrong with you teaching him?" Scarecrow said

"Well, I hardly know him" Tin Man said

"Just leave us alone, Lion" Grace said

"I'll get you anyway, Pee-wee" Lion said making Grace runs to Dorothy and he goes after her

Dorothy puts her in front of her, Grace runs to Scarecrow, he picks her up and starts comforting her

Dorothy hits him on the nose and said "shame on you!"

"Why did you do that for? I didn't bite her" Lion sobbed

"No, but you tried to. It's bad enough picking on a straw man, but when you go around picking on poor little children" Dorothy said as she rubs Grace's back

"Well, you didn't have to go and hit me! Is my nose bleeding?" Lion said

"Well, of course not" Dorothy said as Lion grabs his tail and wipes his tears with "my goodness, what a fuss you're making! Well naturally, when you go around picking on things weaker than you are. Why, you're nothing but a great big coward!"

"You're right, I am a coward! I haven't any courage at all. I even scare myself" Lion sobs "look at the circles under my eyes. I haven't slept in weeks!"

"Why don't you try counting sheep?" Tin Man asked

"That doesn't do any good, I'm afraid of 'em" Lion sobs

"Aw, that's too bad" Scarecrow said "don't you think the Wizard could help him too?

"I don't see why not" Dorothy said "why don't you come along with us we're on our way to see the Wizard now"

"To get him a heart" Grace said as she pointed to Tin Man

"And him a brain" Tin Man said about Scarecrow

"I'm sure he could give you some courage" Dorothy said

"Well, wouldn't you feel the grader to be seen in the company of a Cowardly Lion?" Lion asked "I would"

"No of course not" Dorothy said

"Gee, that's awfully nice of you, my life has been simply unbearable" Lion said

"Well it's alright now, the Wizard will fix everything" Dorothy said as she wipes Lion's tears off with a hanky

"It's been so long it just better I tell you how I feel" Lion said

"Well, c'mon" Dorothy said when Scarecrow put Grace down and then Lion singed "If I Only Had The Nerve" and then they went off

They got out of the forest and they finally saw The Emerald City

"There's Emerald City, oh we're almost there at last, at last" Dorothy said "it's so beautiful isn't it just like I knew it would be, he must a wonderful Wizard to live in a city like that"

"Well come on, what are we waiting for?" Lion said

"Nothing" Scarecrow said "let's hurry"

"Yeah, let's run" Dorothy said and they started running

"Come on, come on" Scarecrow said

"Hurry, hurry" Tin Man said

As they got up on a hill, Dorothy felt really sleepy and she said "what's happening, what is it? I can't run anymore, I'm so sleepy"

"Here let us give your hand so we can pull you along" Scarecrow said

"Oh no please I have to rest for just a minute" Dorothy said

Then Grace started to yawn and said "I'm getting sleepy too"

Grace laid down when Dorothy said "Toto, where's Toto?" And she lies down too

"You girls can't rest now, we're nearly there" Scarecrow said when Dorothy laid down on the ground too

Tin Man started crying and Scarecrow said "don't cry, you'll rust yourself again"

"Come to think of it, 40 weeks wouldn't be bad" Lion said as he started to get sleepy

"Don't you started too" Scarecrow said as him and Tin Man keep Lion stand up

"No, we ought try carry Dorothy and Grace" Tin Man suggested

"I don't think I could, but we could try" Scarecrow said

Then Lion fell down and fell asleep and Tin Man said "oh look at him this is terrible"

"Here Tin Man help me" Scarecrow said as he tried to pick up Dorothy and Tin Man tries to pick up Grace but it was no use

"Oh this is terrible can't an inch, this is a spell this is" Scarecrow said

"It's the Wicked Witch, what do we do?" Tin Man said "HELP, HELP"

"It's no use screaming at a time like this. Nobody will hear you. HELP! HELP!" Scarecrow said

Then Glinda appeared, used her magic to make snow appeared and she disappeared

"Maybe that'll help.... oh but couldn't help" Scarecrow said and then Dorothy and Grace woke up "it does help, Dorothy, Grace you're waking up

They sit up, then Lion woke up and Lion said "unusually weather we're having ain't it?"

Grace noticed Tin Man and she said "look, he's rusted again"

"Oh give me that oil can" Dorothy said as Scarecrow gives her the oil can and they started to oil Tin Man again

A while later Tin Man was good to go and Dorothy said "c'mon let's get out of here, look Emerald City is closer and pretty than ever"

Then they heard women singing and they got off of the poppies and they were on their to the Emerald City
