Chain Me To Your Heart's Desire (Part 5)

Start from the beginning

Leon was waiting in his car, and Morgana shoved him towards the back of the car before opening the passenger side door and sliding in. Arthur was just so thankful that she was looking out for her to even be annoyed at her manhandling. He quickly opened the back door of Leon's sedan and slipped inside too.

It took a minute for Arthur to realise that Gwen is also there. He did a double take when he saw her, he had thought that she was still up in the building.

Apparently not.

"You're coming with us too?" Arthur asked incredulously, cringing when it came out wrong. It wasn't like he didn't want her to come, she was his friend too (honestly, she had been working for him for the past three years), but he was still a bit surprised.

"Yes," She mumbled, her eyes trained onto the small screen of her phone, where she was frowning at something. "Lance's not coming." She said, putting it away.

Arthur sensed rather than saw Morgana's and Leon's frowns. "Did he say why?" Leon asked, glancing in the rear view mirror at Gwen.

"Something about going out with friends today. He said that he could tell them no, but he sounded disappointed, so I let him be. Do you want him there? I am sure he wouldn't mind cancelling his plans," Gwen answered.

"No!" Arthur intervened before Morgana could answer. "No need for that. Let him be. The less number of people who see me like this, the better,"

Gwen frowned at that, but let him be. Arthur settled back, closing his eyes and trying to rest a little.

The silence of the car was broken by Leon. "Where are we going?"

"The Rising Sun. It is a pub near Whitechapel."

"Any particular reason we are going there?"

Morgana shrugged. "It sounded nice, had fantastic reviews. I also haven't visited it before."

Gwen frowned at that. "The Rising Sun? I think one of Lance's friends from work owns that."

At that, Arthur lost track of the conversation, the movement of the car as well as the stress of the week lulling him into a doze.

He only shot up again when he felt a tingle on his arm. He pulled up the sleeve of his coat and dress shirt. How are you?

Arthur pulled out a pen from his pocket and answered. I've been better, honestly. What about you?

The reply came half a minute later. Same. My colleagues are dragging me for drinks. I don't even know why! My birthday isn't until twelve today! Shouldn't they be doing this tomorrow?

Arthur chuckled at that. What were the chances that he was in the predicament during the same time? Maybe it is because it is a Friday?

His soulmate replied with a- Hm.. It may be that you are right.

I am always right!! And thank you.

As you say.

Arthur barely managed to stifle a giggle before his sister heard it. Gwen, however, did, and she shot him a grin when she realised what he was doing.

"We're here!" Leon announced, parking the car and getting out. The rest followed behind him as he went inside the building.

The bar itself was in a shallow basement, a level between the ground floor and the basement. The basement had pool tables, and could be rented out for parties. It was currently locked. The bar itself was a typical Irish Pub, and quite a few patrons were already sitting at the tables, despite it being no more than seven-thirty. The trio took a seat in a corner, removing their coats and draping them over the backs of the benches.
