Disease
Para akong nanigas doon sa puwesto ko. I covered my mouth because I was shocked and hurt. My tears started to fall down my cheeks. At nang biglang lumabas si Jax, kitang-kita ko ang pagkagulat niya nang makita ako.
I immediately turned my back on him but I was stopped when he held on my wrist. Agad ko iyong hinila paalis.
"Bitawan mo ako..." I told him. "How can you be so unfair, Jax? Bakit mo pa ako binalikan kung magpapakasal ka pala sa iba?"
Hindi na dapat siya nagpunta sa Baguio. Hindi na dapat kami nag-usap doon. O sana'y hindi na lang niya dineny na girlfriend niya si Claire nang sa ganoon ay hindi na ako umasa!
"Cali, it's not what you think–"
"No! You're so unfair–" My knees got so weak that I almost fell on the floor but Jax was so quick to catch me.
My watch started to beep.
Napahawak ako sa dibdib ko dahil sa kakaibang sakit. "Y-You're so unfair..." I kept on muttering until I couldn't speak anymore.
Naramdaman kong binubuhat ako ni Jax. Nanghihina na ako at hindi makapalag.
Pagdating sa infirmary, my personal nurse assisted me right away. Alam ko na agad na makakarating ito kanila Mommy. I'd just have to explain it to them when I get home.
Nandoon lang si Jax sa tabi ko at hindi siya pinapansin. No'ng umalis na iyong nurse ay pumikit na lang ako at ibinalin ang mukha ko roon sa side na wala si Jax.
"Are you sick, Cal? Do you feel sick?" si Jax iyon pero ayaw ko siyang sagutin dahil masama ang loob ko sa kanya.
Sinabi na rin ng nurse na kakuntsaba ko na it was just dizziness.
I heard him took a deep breath.
"Mali ang iniisip mo... Hindi ako magpapakasal. Hindi ko gagawin 'yon," Jax said.
Agad akong lumingon sa kanya at masama siyang tinignan. "Would you rather lose the academy then?"
Alam kong hindi niya kayang hayaan na mawala iyong academy sa kanya, sa kanila. It was his Mom's hardwork. Everything she did is for the school. The academy is her legacy. And her only son is supposed to protect it no matter what.
At alam ko rin na handang gawin ni Jax ang lahat para rito. He's the successor. He won't let those people take the academy away from their family.
"Kahit ano pa ang mangyari, hindi ako magpapakasal. Hindi kay Claire," he said clearly. Mahinahon at malambing ang kanyang boses. "Kung magpapakasal man ako, sa 'yo lang iyon."
I looked away. "You only have two options, and I'm not part of those."
"Alam ko, pero iyong mga options na iyon, kay Tita lang iyon. Hindi sa akin..." Jax held my hand softly. "I'm an Yrreverre, but I'm also a Pereira. I can ask my Dad for help."
Bumalik ang tingin ko sa kanya. He smiled to me a little.
"But you don't like to talk to your father," I told him.
Alam kong mahirap para sa kanya na kausapin ang Dad niya, paano pa ang humingin ng tulong dito? It'll take an emotional toll on him.
"Better than marrying someone, right?"
Malalim akong huminga at tumango sa kanya.
"And did you really forget that I'm Mr. Friendship?"
