I'm editing this as I go, so please bare with me<3
This story honestly has absolutely no plot and I'm just writing what I feel goes together not to mention this is my first story, tell me what I need to improve on and what I did right<33
"Next job interview.." I was exhausted from walking all over town. My feet felt like they were throbbing. My ankles were tortured by the straps of my heels. 13 job interviews. That's how many I have attended and been shunned away from in the last 2 weeks.
I couldn't tell if it was my lack of experience or... never mind it's definitely my lack of experience. However it's really not my fault I lived such a sheltered life. I've always had daddy's money to fall back on. Although now, I can't exactly do that since me and my father are on bad terms.
Reaching my next destination I grew weary. I feared if they would accept me or not. Getting this job would be crucial to my finances. I need it for extra living expenses and things for my dorm. Honestly, I feel like my college textbooks cost more than my dorm alone.
Kind of wishing I never impulse bought a whole new closet of clothing. I take that back actually, it was money well spent.
I stood outside of the building trying to take a moment to calm my nerves.
As soon as I walked in I noticed a few things. Lack of color in the office. On top of the boring architecture, everyone seemed so uptight and dull. They took themselves too seriously. The atmosphere just screamed competition. No one in the room seemed friendly.
Not to mention everyone here is so...old.
As I continued to walk it was like my legs were wobbling, I felt as if everyone was watching me even though I knew they weren't. Regardless, I kept on until I reached the receptionist's desk.
"Hello I ha--" the receptionist looked annoyed by me interrupting her impromptu free time. " Last name," she asked dryly. "I'm L/n" The clicking of the keyboard was the only sound in the office other than paper printing and heels clacking. I felt so awkward just standing there. "the first name?" she again asked, seeming uninterested. "it's Y/f/n".
"Your appointment was set for 15 minutes from now but the person that was supposed to interview you had an emergency meeting to attend," I balled my fists at the fact my interviewer didn't have the decency to email me about this.
" They can fit you in for another interview later today at 5 o'clock this afternoon." This has to be the worst two weeks of my life. "Are you sure there aren't any more available time slots? maybe something sooner?" I was losing my composure. I could just feel the panic taking over me. I have classes for the rest of the day, and I cannot afford to miss them. I couldn't go to that interview unless I cut class early, and I can't do that because I have to finish my group project. " Look if I could help you I would, but there's nothing I can do" She shrugged me off. I sighed and facepalmed mentally.
I simply nodded and kept walking. I can't lie, I was a bit aggravated that they didn't have someone call me ahead of time and let me know so I wouldn't have wasted my time.
I was walking away hastily and somewhat fuming. As I walked towards the door my phone started to ring, I reached for my bag and began rummaging through it for my phone. While I walked and looked for my phone I felt the strap of my heel get caught under a heavy mass.
Before I could even begin to address what it was, I crashed into the floor. My hands stung from the harsh contact. I swear when I hit the floor the room fell dead silent, and the sound of me slapping the ground echoed through the buildings halls.
The strap of one of my heels snapped clean off. My shoe was hanging on to my foot by the grace of god. I'm just glad it didn't completely fly across the room.
This is so embarrassing...
After a few moments of awkward silence and not knowing what to do, I scramble to sit up and see what my foot had gotten caught on or under. As I look around to my foot, I see a dark brown leather dress shoe with a piece of my strap under it.
I begin to look up at the person who cause this mess. As I look at him, he's just looking at me...dumbstruck.
" Do you speak?" I asked aggravated. You just made me bust my ass but you can't even utter a simple, 'oh, I am so sorry, let me help you' .
"Great," I mumbled to myself. As I was mentally cursing myself the stranger extended their hand to me. As I reached for their hand to grab, they swiftly pulled away proceeding to point behind me. "Not your hand, the drink that fell, pass it to me". As I look past myself I see a cup of tea spilled behind me as well.
"The drink... you want me, to pick up your drink?" I say in utter disbelief.
I looked at him in utter shock. He stared at me blankly, hand still extended. I looked at the cup seeing it still had some tea in it. Picking it up, I acted as if I was about to pass it to him. Once it reached his hand I "accidentally" knocked it towards him. I then proceeded to get up and glare at the stranger. He glared back, he looked like he wanted to cuss me out. "Something you need to say?" I asked rudely. His answer was his stare back in silence.
"You should really watch where the fuck you're going " I muttered under my breath.I was doing my best to not cause a scene and trying to fix myself. "You should mind your words." the person started. "Mind where you're walking instead." I spat back at him. I don't have time for this, so I gathered myself and left.
"That arrogant piece of..."
