UA Dormitories, 8:00 PM
Your POV
I flopped down on the bed and dropped my backpack on the floor, flinching as it made a heavy thump on the hardwood floor. The first day had gone by pretty quickly, but that didn't mean I wasn't exhausted. Mom and I had been packing busily for at least a week before the move, and we had gotten there two days before I was scheduled to be in school. Of course, being the spontaneous idiot I am, I bought an entire pack of Red Bull and raged all night right before my first day. So, with those factors added to the fact that I had drained my infinitesimal social battery talking to classmates and teachers, it was safe to say that I was close to passing out.
At least I had a place to stay without my mom around, though. After school got out, Mr. Nezu had escorted me to the dormitories and let me pick out a dorm. I picked one on the second floor, without really giving it much thought. After milling around and exploring the dorms for a bit, I had a fairly decent idea of where everybody had settled. The room I'd picked was at the end of the hall, so I only had one immediate neighbor. Uraraka was just to my left. To my right was just an empty common area, which was connected to another hallway with the boys' dorms. I noticed that the interesting boy with the split hair was living in the first dorm of that hallway. I also found out where the girl with the purple hair was, which was somewhere in the left wing on the bottom floor.
After I had explored fully, a bunch of my classmates had been hanging out in one of the common areas. I'd decided to stick around, though I didn't really contribute much. Mainly, I wanted to find out more about their personalities. It was a little hard to keep up with the energy of some of the people there, though. Some girl named Mina Ashido kept trying to drag me into a bunch of dumb games. Eventually, I'd decided enough was enough and I split off from the group to head back to my dorm.
Laying on the soft, memory foam pillows really felt great, after the week I'd had. In fact, I was right about to go to sleep four hours early. But right as I was changing into my pajamas, I got a phone call.
Sighing exasperatedly, I dropped my pajama shirt on the bed and went to the desk, where my phone was vibrating. It was my mom.
Of course, I thought tiredly. Who else would be calling me right now?
I picked up and tried to summon even a small ounce of energy to talk to her.
"Hey, mom! How come you're calling so late?"
I heard laughter on the other end. What's funny about that...?
"Well, I did call you earlier, honey, but you didn't pick up. I assumed you were hanging out with all of your new friends."
I cringed as she said this. "Uh... Yeah, I guess. I made a few friends, and they showed me around the school."
"That's great, honey. Well, I'm sure you're tired, so I won't take up any more of your time. Make sure to get a good night's sleep. I'll talk to you soon!"
Thank the lord. I didn't know what I'd do if she kept me on the phone too long.
"Okay, I'll go to bed early tonight."
"I love you, honey!"
"...I love you too, mom."
She always calls me honey...
I waited to hear the click on the other end and then dropped the phone back onto the desk. God, I hope she isn't planning to call me every night. I don't know if I have the energy for that.
Now that I was free, I deadbolted the door and finished putting on my PJs. Once I killed the lights, the weariness really took over me. If not for my willpower, I might've collapsed onto the floor and slept there all night. Fortunately, I made it to the much more comfortable option. Sliding into the covers felt heavenly, and my tired bones relaxed as I settled in and closed my eyes. I barely had the forethought to take my socks off before I drifted away.
