Just a few more seconds!!!

My eyes widened as I stared, desperate, unblinking, at the clock. That sweet chime that rings with freedom was just within my grasp, mere seconds away. I only had to sit through a few more agonizing seconds of this insanity, and then I would be free.

3... 2... 1...

"Yes!" I cheered under my breath, immediately standing and slinging my backpack over my shoulders. I shook my right leg slightly, shivering from the strange numbness. The world had been so cruel as to give me an uncontrollable amount of energy today, and I had been tapping my right foot at Mach 20 speed ever since I'd sat down in the morning. Perhaps chugging a thermos full of coffee that morning hadn't been my smartest idea, but without it I knew I'd fall asleep before my face even had time to hit the desk.

I tried to map out the clearest path possible through the sea of students in the hallway and started forward at a pace so quick that I almost face-planted straight to the floor at one point. Anything to run off this excess energy, I thought breezily, being too hyper at the moment to care.

Running all the way to the lunchroom ended up working out in my favor; I was one of the first ones in line, which was especially lucky considering the fact that I usually got stuck at the back waiting for the line to move forward for fifteen minutes. Still feeling extremely jittery, I grabbed my lunch tray and nearly tripped over my own feet on my way to the table where Todoroki and I had sat yesterday. He was already waiting there, with his adorable boxed lunch displayed in front of him.

"Hi, Todoroki!" I called genially, sending a friendly smile his way.

Todoroki raised his head and cast his gaze in my direction, and I immediately noticed something mildly amusing.

"Todoroki," I said, giggling as I sat down next to him. "You've got some rice on your face."

At this, the boy's eyes widened slightly in confusion, and he subconsciously reached up to wipe it away, turning away from me. I laughed to myself upon noticing his mild embarrassment. He's really not all that scary once you get to know him, is he?

"Well, aren't you two cute?"

Hearing a familiar voice, I looked up and scowled in slight annoyance when I saw Jiro coming towards us, looking quite smug.

"Geez, Jiro," I said, sighing exasperatedly. "Quit making a big deal out of nothing, would ya?"

Jiro's cocky smirk never faded as she sat across from me and Todoroki and crossed her arms.

I let out a weary breath. "Todoroki, this is Jiro..." I muttered, feeling the full force of Jiro's accusatory stare. "And Jiro, you clearly know Todoroki already."

Todoroki, who had been watching the strange encounter with a rather confused expression, now snapped out of his puzzlement.

"Nice to meet you," He said courteously.

"Yeah, you too," She said, sounding rather enthused. She then turned to me. "It's such a shame that you two are still on a last name basis... But pretty soon, you'll be calling him Sho-Sho or something, I guarantee it!"

I groaned. "Jiro, cut it out!"

She sure seems excited about this...

"All right! Fine... Well, I just wanted to drop by and say hi, but I'd hate to be a third wheel, so..." Jiro stood and turned and tossed a wave over her shoulder. "Later, (L/n)!"
