Chapter 25: Bugatti La Voiture Noire

"I bet Parker would let me drive his car" I challenge

He smirks and shakes his head

"Parker, she thinks you'll let her drive your car!" He looks at me waiting. I Look at Parker with big eyes. And with a slow smirk he says

"Yeah sure sis, jump out and I'll let ya." My eyes light up and I snark a "ha" in Jesse's head. His face drops and he gives Parker a suspicious look. I try to undo my belt but struggle, Jesse just stands there so Parker leans over and pops it out for me. There's me pulling it and I needed to push that red stripe bit, like a button. I open the door which hits Jesse and I snort. That will teach him not to move. And skip to the otherside where Parker already has the door open for me and sweeps his hand to the door saying

"In you get then!" I squeal and jump in. Doing the belt by myself this time. And put my hands on the wheel. Then look at Parker who's just smirking at Jesse.

"It's your car P. When she wrecks it, and she will, you have no one to blame but yourself. And if she's hurt…. Well you'll be feeling a world of hurt from me. Got it?" Jesse says to him. He has no confidence in me whatsoever, that I'll be able to do this which makes me feel a little insecure. I'm thinking maybe he's right and I'm just being stubborn and am about to undo the belt, but stop when he says

"Thought I'd change my mind didn't you, P? I'm not stupid, but I'm not about to wreck my new car, should have been taken straight home anyway. Why was it bought here?" Jesse asks in an annoyed way. Parker who still has his smile plastered to his face says

"Actually Jesse, it's just a car! No biggie. It can be replaced. We have more than enough money. So if she wrecks it she wrecks it! And I had it bought here so you didn't have to wait around like we did when we arrived and though you might like to have a little drive in it. Didn't know you'd have a mate at the time that would want to drive it. Or that you'd make her feel inadequate" He says as he walks around the car to get in.

"But this is your baby? You've done and spent so much on her. You know you were expecting me to change my mind. Don't be an idiot because I called you out on it. I'm sorry love but he's calling my bluff he won't let you drive it really. Now come on I told you I'd sort a car out for you to have a drive in when we get to our destination. And I'm.sorry if I'm making you feel inadequate" He looks at me impatiently, like I'm a child. Hes not actually sorry, he's just placating me. Which is making me more angry not less. Parker turns to me and says

"Go on sweetie, I'm not bluffing. Turn that key there and start her up." Making Jesse growl. I do what he says and the car rumbles to life. This is exciting.

"You can go now. I'll see you there. If I don't wreck us first that is."

"Don't be like that. I'm sorry I don't mean I don't trust you. Just that- hey- I'm tal-" the rest of it is muffled as Parker does up the window, drowning him out.

"Right are you ready for a crash course?" Smiling, I nod. I see Jesse throw his hands up and walk off to his car. So much for being worried! I turn back to Parker who rolls his eyes. He explains what everything is and what it does, I retain it to memory and close my eyes thinking about what to do and find I remember it well. So putting my foot on the clutch, I release the handbrake and simultaneously put pressure on the accelerator and off the clutch. The car starts going forward, I put 2 hands on the wheel and start going.

Smiling in triumph I look at Parker who titters and the car starts making whining sounds.

"Well done, now that noise is to tell you it's time to change gear to second. So go ahead, remember to put your foot on the clutch to change."
