That comment really didn't help the situation; The boy got visibly upset and got up, walking straight towards me. My eyes widened in surprise as he basically Kabedon-ed me to the table.

"What the hell did you just say?"

I could see this developing into a fight if I didn't try to de-escalate the situation soon, but my brain kept coming up with all of these daring things to say. For now, I'd better keep my mouth shut, I thought. I'm one word away from getting a throat full of teeth.

"Kacchan, leave her alone..." Midoriya mumbled.

The blonde boy, who's name was apparently 'Kacchan', took his eyes off me for a moment to glare at Midoriya instead.

"You stay out of this, nerd... And quit calling me that!" He growled, his crimson eyes glowing with a sort of fire I'd never seen before.

That's not his real name, the rational me thought.

I should totally start teasing him with it to piss him off more, the suicidal me thought.

Sigh.

Unfortunately, I think that me won.

"Kacchan, is it? Cute nickname. Do you always welcome new kids by slamming them into the table?" I said, a shit-eating grin forming as I realized I was absolute toast.

'Kacchan' directed his gaze at me once again, and I could tell I was probably in some trouble now. My smile never wavered as the boy grabbed my shirt collar with both hands and pulled me forward to meet his eyes.

"I don't know who the hell you think you are," He spat menacingly. "But if I were you, I'd do a complete one-eighty and walk out of here right now, because you won't like what's in for you if you stay."

I should probably do everything in my power to make this guy cool his jets, the rational me thought.

I should tease him even more because it's damn hilarious, the suicidal me thought.

Sigh.

Here goes nothing.

"You know, I understand the whole thing about boys picking on girls they like, but don't you think this is taking it a little too far? I mean, if you wanted to tell me something, then say what you mean."

Out of the corner of my eye, I swear I could see Iida's jaw drop to the floor.

'Kacchan' loosened his grip on my collar for a moment, seemingly out of confusion. I suppose I could sort of understand. He was clearly a bully, so he probably wasn't used to people standing up to him. And he was going to a pretty prestigious school, meaning that if he went too far, he could get suspended or worse. So he couldn't touch me.

"You... What? What the hell are you talking about? This isn't some schoolboy crush, this is a warning!"

One more time? My mind begged me. And, against my better judgement, I let myself give in.

"You're a cutie, you know that? But girls appreciate honesty. Come on, are you gonna admit it, or what?"

Somewhere in the background, I think Midoriya may have fainted. Meanwhile, I still wore that stupid grin proudly. 'Kacchan' had let go of me completely at this point, and was now standing in front of me and staring down, looked perplexed.

"I don't... I don't think you understand what I'm..."

'Kacchan' growled in frustration with how I was acting.

"Look, I'm telling you that you'd better watch your fucking back!" He shouted, spinning on his heels and stalking back the way he came. I let out a breath I didn't know I'd been holding, and then puffed an annoyed sigh. Seriously, when in fuck's sake would I be able to eat my lunch?

"Who the hell was that?" I muttered, finally biting into my crispy, toasted egg sandwich.

Midoriya let out a shaky breath.

"That was Katsuki Bakugou... He was my friend when I was little, but he sort of turned into a competitive jerk and a bully once his quirk manifested."

So he decided to throw a temper tantrum to intimidate me, huh?

I didn't respond, and instead continued eating.

"I'm fucking famished," I mumbled.

Now that the confrontation was over, the atmosphere had gotten very tense. The four of us sat in silence a moment longer, and then Uraraka finally broke it.

"So, Iida... I saw you making eyes at Yaoyorozu earlier. Does the class president have a crush?"

Iida cleared his throat uncomfortably. "As a representative of our class, it would be inappropriate for me to get distracted by such trivial matters," He mumbled quietly. The tone of his voice said everything we needed to know, so nobody questioned him further.

The conversation sort of picked up from there. I wasn't really interested in talking, so I continued eating and let the others do all of the talking. Pretty soon, the lunch bell rang again.

"I'll see you guys in class; Gotta head to the bathroom first."

I waved goodbye to my new friends and they waved back.

Now I've just gotta find the batgrooms...

Midoriya's POV

I waved to (Y/n) and watched her go. At least so far, she seemed nice. Though, there was something off at the same time. Something in her eyes just didn't seem genuine, like she was saying things she didn't mean.

I shook my head to clear away these thoughts. Of course, she was completely normal. A little quiet and gloomy looking, but normal. Except for the fact that she stood up to Kacchan... THAT was unexpected.

I realized now that I was muttering again. Iida and Uraraka were staring at me, so I tried to stop thinking all of these strange things.

"Sorry, I got lost in thought. Let's go."

I really didn't want to doubt (L/n), but despite attempts to think of something else, that strange look in her eyes kept coming back to me.

"Hey, Iida," I said slowly. "Did you notice anything off about (L/n)?"

Of course, I expected him to dismiss it. He'd ask what on Earth I was talking about. He'd tell me I'm being paranoid.

His response was a little shocking.

"Actually, when we first met, there was something odd... I don't know how to place it. It's probably nothing though, and I won't judge her based on my first impression!" Iida's eyebrows furrowed as he made his courageous statement.

I looked away from him. He was right, obviously. I shouldn't be making assumptions based on a hunch, but I couldn't help feeling strange about (L/n).

As we were walking, I spotted her walking down the hallway towards us; Apparently she found the bathroom pretty quickly. I smiled warily as I watched her eyes, seeming so disinterested. And then she spotted us, and the look disappeared.

(Y/n) (L/n), who exactly are you?
