Her elder brother made the sign with his finger, flicking quickly and he won her again.
Lola shook her head. "Daniel end that thing."
"Please wait." He also begged. ".... Paper scissors." The girl made her sign but he won her. The other girl followed and the result was the same. So he laughed hysterically at them while the girls pouted and glared.
"You cheated," Tife shouted.
"Hey, stop shouting," Lola commanded but it didn't look like they heard her because she didn't reply and was still glaring at her elder brother.
"I didn't cheat. You just suck at playing the game." Daniel answered his sister.
"Just admit you cheated," Tife said.
Daniel smirked and stared her up in the eyes. "Just admit you are a loser." She clenched her teeth at him.
"Dan, agbaya ni e," Lola told her brother. [You are an old fool]. She picked up a pillow on the armchair and threw it at her brother which he dodged, laughing.
"You can't win me." He boldly told the girls.
"That's a lie," Tife disagreed and she also picked a pillow quickly from the chair and she threw it at Daniel. Her twin Tito also did the same and he ran around to avoid them as he erupted in a fit of laughter whenever he dodges their blow.
Lola just sat watching them, hand folded on her chest, tired of shouting. Before she said.
"That's enough. Let's go take our bath," Lola shouted among the loud chatter of waves of laughter. It was no longer them trying to beat their brother but a game of 'catch me if you can'. And she was frustrated as it is.
Demilade was welcome by his usual quiet mansion. Not until he stepped into the living room, and was welcomed by the loud noise of laughter. For a second, he had thought he had stepped into the wrong house. His house wasn't always loud and he don't have any visitors. He thought to himself. But then he remembered he had allowed Lola to bring her siblings to spend their mid-term break in his house. And it happened to be that day.
Then he followed the sound of the laughter and then Lola's voice to the other living room. He stood at the entrance when he realized they had not known about their intruder.
Demilade stood watching the little family drama. He could see the look of frustration on Lola's. She was already tired of shouting at the children to go take their bath. But they were still adamant about touching their elder brother who was running around avoiding the girls. They were persistent in catching him despite he was faster than them and their laughter was making them lose control.
He couldn't help but smiled watching the kids laughing joyfully.
One of the little girls was the first to see him. She stopped running and looked at him curiously. Lola noticed her movement and she followed her gaze to where he stood at the entrance connecting the passage to the next sitting room.
He stepped into the room when all eyes were on him since they had all stopped. He watched a smile spread on Lola's face.
"Good evening. Welcome," Lola said quickly and she stood up to approach him. She took his bag from him and grinned.
"Evening," he replied with a grin. "How are you?"
"Good. And you? How was your day?"
"Okay. Thank God," she replied. Then she turned to her family. "Dan, Tife, Tito meet the owner of this big house. Demmy, these are my siblings. My family."
